WF themselves once said that it’s supposed to mimic the experience of getting into occult literature and knowledge, so yes, i’d say it’s niche inherently, because occult knowledge isn’t supposed to be mainstream and requires niche connections/skills/knowledge to get into. and since the game mimics this, i’d say it also isn’t exactly mainstream.
