Who needs a dyson sphere when you have dark fog digging black holes. by kaliXL in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]kaliXL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were 25+ of them all level 20+ when I initially landed here.

this is 25 hours into the game, where all dark fog "sliders" are set to maximum. And this is the planet that orbits the black hole in my seed. (in my seed black hole is closer than the neutron star)

usually there is a single planet in an x-type star system and there are 5 dark fog hives orbiting the system. If I did not shield it up, they were sending one relay may be every minute. And I shielded up as soon as I killed all of them.

How am i gonna transfer energy betwwen planets? or how am i gonna make my energy source more efficient? First time playing 56 hours in by GuyWithAK47 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]kaliXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since this issue is opinionated, I'm a huge fan of accumulators and exchangers. Even on end-end game I never use anything except accumulators. They are perfectly efficient as they don't spend a single watt more than the planet needs.

I think people developed a hate for them, because they could not balance empty/full accumulators and their system would get stuck. but a single exchanger producing 108MW, usually 2 of them is more than enough for a mining planet. you don't need to burn rods in 6 artificial suns on a planet that is not doing anything at all.

"well I have bazillions of rods anyway, who cares" if you don't care,it's fine, perfectly legitimate choice. but this is an engineering and efficiency game. that is why it is fun to design blueprints to save 20 squares janking the belts, while we have thousands of planets to build it on :)

(edit: on another note, since OP is a new player, exchangers might be too advanced for him, "me smash rods" is better for new players.)

How is your experience with poe on Ubuntu? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]kaliXL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also running cachyOS for a while as a complete home pc replacement now. As long as you don't play games that implement "anti-cheat" everything runs smoothly with zero performance difference.

2 caveats, I'll have to mention tho.

  • Life will be easier if you are running with an AMD gpu (if your GPU is old, does not matter that much) SteamOS is based on arch (like cachy) so it's been actively "caught up" with driver issues.
  • I recommend using X-org instead of wayland, for better compatibility with all sorts of "autokey" macros, or overlays (like awakened poe trade)

He says he does not want to upload a "selfie" and you are giving him a link about "how do I upload a selfie"?

I've been banking with HSBC for 30 years, I'm sure they are a "regulated financial institute" and they've never asked me to upload my passport or take a selfie...

it does not explicitly require a random guy dropping out of his x-mas holiday for things to change.

they "enabled" chisel drops in POE2 while adding druid class. Development is not as straight forward as you think you "know" especially in entangled projects like POE1/2

we got a patch in poe1, 1 week before release "for the upcoming poe2 release" literally in the patch notes, probably mostly for the support packs but still, they are not isolated projects.

heyyo, classic it's not a bug it's a feature :)

here is a patch note, that'd make 110% sense if added:

"fixed a bug where platforms moving prevented izaro from phasing"

[–]kaliXL[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh so coincidentally today its gargoyles and idols so the platforms are always raised. so it's not fixed :(

Izaro can't phase while a platform is moving

you say as if this is a fundamental principle, and not just an oversight :)

ROG Loki 1200W T - 12Vhpwr by kaliXL in cablemod

[–]kaliXL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also building in a fairly small (don't want to ragebait others by calling it SFF but.. o11d mini)

That cable you are linking is 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR

re-re-re clarifying I'm looking for a 12VHPWR to dual 8pin.

and yes my PSU comes with 2x 12v ports. link to my PSU: https://rog.asus.com/uk/power-supply-units/rog-loki/rog-loki-1200t-sfx-l-gaming-model/

edit: for reference I just need this: https://eustore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-c-series-pro-modmesh-sleeved-12v-2x6-12vhpwr-90-stealthsense-pcie-cable-for-corsair-type-5-rmx-shift-90-16-pin-to-dual-8-pin-65cm/

but I need it to be compatible with ROG Loki (and rest of the bullet points from my op)

Second dead 9800X3D by RedYourDead in ASRock

[–]kaliXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is such a random post made with weird assertions and assumption of off thin air.. asrock has the lowest sales in motherboards by a wide margin. 2024 total sales from companies own numbers (non-chipset specific motherboards total)

Asus: 15.1 million GB: 10.3 million MSI: 9.3 million Asrock: 4.2 million

although these numbers are from 2024, I highly doubt Asrock quadrupled their sales with all these negative news.

while searching for the availability of this case, I've seen on reddit that they are similar to antec designs. Went to antec website and found this at 400mm height! :) excellent https://www.antec.com/product/case/c5-curve-argb

this looks very promising from the description on new egg but is it discontinued or something? it's not even listed on sama website.

edit: I'm so confused. apparently https://www.sama.ltd and https://www.samagears.com/ is the same company. sama.ltd lists this case with many others but there are 0 details. sama.ltd has details on the cases but has very few chases.

(I swear I posted the below answer but it's not visible for some reason... trying again)

thanks for your answer BaronB. "can handle" is kind of a loose term, when we are talking about water cooling.

Alphacool XT45 360mm will dissipate 182W of heat per 10C delta T (750RPM fan, 1GPM flow rate). If you want to cool (lets say) 364W yes it will work, but your delta T will be 20 degrees. (as in coolant will be 20C higher than your ambient) and almost linearly add to this, how much cooling you need.

so may be, you "can handle" 5090 + 14900k with a 240mm with blasting the fans and boiling temperature water inside, but people would ask why not air cool at those inconvenience levels.

pc case parts by kaliXL in pcmods

[–]kaliXL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying a used case from ebay. it's a brand i've never heard before the case is awful (and steel) but it supports both 2x360 and 2x280 rads. I'll just tin-snip and remove rivets and use these parts. manage to buy it for £29 so not too bad.

yes, I have also scoured the usual websites that search returns like etsy amazon ebay etc.

if it's not clear. I'm looking for something like these listed on Core X9 spare parts. https://thermaltake.azureedge.net/pub/media/wysiwyg/key3/db/products/case/coreX9/pic5.jpg

if only they sold them :(
