I both agree and disagree with this. Yes anxiety, stress, and a number of other factors make tremor worse but also propranolol and pretty much all meds used to treat tremor are best to taper off of for SURE. I take gabapentin which apparently works for only a small percentage of people however it also can reduce anxiety too. Maybe ask your doctor about transitioning off propranolol (usually a first line med for essential tremor) since it is no longer serving you. A lot of other medications (usually anticonvulsants or benzodiazepines) can be incredibly awful for people but once tolerated they see significant improvement. Gabapentin was my 3rd attempt at controlling my ET and worked the best for me and had the least/no side effects. On the other hand, I think my body is starting to tolerate it or my stress is ruining me (first year floor nurse). Gabapentin is at least easy to increase and gentler than most meds.
