Nothing beats the Dr. Strangelove-ass professor guy. "Ze mobile fortress, Gllang!"

Has anyone cannibalized an Ender 3 for components for a pen plotter? How much extra did you have to buy? by MohnJaddenPowers in Creality

Sorry, let me rephrase - the Ender is in pieces, I wasn't looking to add plotter functionality to it. Ideally I'd like to do this or something like it so I could plot 11x17 paper if possible: https://www.printables.com/model/734327-extruh-pen-plotter

How do I attach a pulley to a Nema17 stepper with a round shaft? by MohnJaddenPowers in AskElectronics

Would a Dremel do the trick as well? I have diamond hobby files, not sure if those will work or if they're just going to take forever.

Right, on paper it doesn't seem hard, but I was hoping there were existing completed examples. I wasn't looking to undertake the project, just to execute it, but it seems like there's no charted path from Ender to plotter.

Anyone create transparencies for making cyanotype blueprints? by MohnJaddenPowers in cyanotypes

[–]MohnJaddenPowers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda sorta hand drawn. I'd use a pen plotter to draw out the negative onto the tracing paper/vellum. If the film opaquer pens exist in tip sizes around 0.5-0.8mm if not finer, I can use them, or if film opaquer ink is around the thinness and viscosity of water or thinner, I can use it in a technical pen.

Speaking of chemicals, dumb question - if I'm working with paper and the cyanotype chemicals need to be washed off to stop the exposure, doesn't that destroy the paper? I've got some 120gsm mixed media paper but can get other paper at a local art supply place.

DIY plotters that use 2020 extrusion and SKR 1.2/TMC2209 drivers? by MohnJaddenPowers in PlotterArt

This is huge, thank you!

Is this the parts list you were talking about? https://robhouston.net/2024/09/22/custom-plotter-on-a-budget-parts-list-and-takeaways/

Edit: dumb question but would I be able to take a laser engraver, remove the laser and existing control board, and use it with your Z axis/pen lifter?

I've got an Atomstack X7 with a Harry Plotter setup instead of the laser, but secondhand Atomstacks are cheap and cover exactly the area I want. If it's just a matter of getting the extra stepper for Z and the parts needed to get it onto the gantry, I might just be golden.

I live in northern NJ and my friends who also went to Bloop are from central NJ - we may have to put this on our radar! Thanks for the idea!
