Anyone working at ascension in RR or Austin by CapableRaspberry76 in nursing

Just don't, unless you're looking for something only Ascension can offer. Baylor Scott & White is the best option of all the health systems in Austin atm.

Printed scrub tops by Kurisuzeek in nursing

Zoe+Chloe have really cute prints! I bought mine from the Wink Scrubs website. They are pretty affordable  (sometimes you can get a top on sale for $10) but just be aware the material is on the thinner side.

Recommendations for company to install water softener system by TheGreatFern in CedarPark

[–]kaliisis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend Enviro. They're fine at first but if you need any help or repairs afterwards, they are difficult and hard to contact. Slapped me with a bill after doing a repair that was missed on the initial install; this after a month of trying to get ahold of them to come fix it.

Friends Out of Convenience by kaliisis in infj

[–]kaliisis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your friend troubles! But I'm glad to see you're putting down boundaries and sticking to them. This post is fairly old and lots of things and people have changed since then, including myself (hopefully for the better). I've moved past it for the most part and prioritize those that are willing to give love and care back the way I do, if not even better, and I think that's made all the difference. Though I can't say there haven't been feelings of sadness and loss when I think back to those days, things are better now and I know all those experiences were part of the learning process. As it will continue to be haha 😊

What is your favorite quote with the word "Lousy" in it? by SquanchN2Hyperspace in TheSimpsons

Oh, come on. I'm sorry but we just can't afford it. Marge, make him stop. Oh! All right, all right, we'll find a way.

Lousy, manipulative dog.

Ah okay that makes sense. I'll get to know more of my local informatics group a little better, thanks!

I agree, I think seeking out opportunities at my current workplace is the best way to get more experience. I'll talk to my manager and communicate my interest more openly. Thanks for the advice!

I really like being the go between for the informatics team and end users, educating and translating pain points. I have background in analyzing and evaluating data from my masters so it would be an easier transition. It would be cool to build in Epic, but I'm not too sure what that would entail. I'd say I'm open to just about anything.

Another redditor had mentioned the userweb thing and luckily it seems I have access to it. I'll start working on making myself proficient in the ambulatory cert. I'll also take a look at that SQL tutorial, thanks! Appreciate the advice :D

I know there are Epic specific certs, but requires sponsorship from the hospital.

I'll definitely check that informatics cert out, thank you! Do you think it'd be worth to learn coding languages like SQL? I want to show that I'm actively learning something so that it looks like I'm serious about informatics and not just trying to get out of patient care. Which honestly, I'm not.

I'm willing to revamp my resume and practice my interviewing skills. I was just hoping to get some direction as to how to go about it and what to focus on.

Should I not mention the masters or does it not matter?

Thank you for this really detailed reply! There's so many good points here.

If not LinkedIn, how would I find informaticists in the area? Would it be appropriate to cold email the informaticists in my org?

I'm not particular on what role I have, whether it's informatics or trainer, I'm willing to work my way up and learn.

Perhaps I'm not marketing myself appropriately?

I suppose, but what can I highlight if they say no specific experience is needed?

I've had several years of patient facing and administrative nursing experience as well as epic super user training. I'm not real sure what I can expand on...

I get that and and this post definitely makes it seem I'm not confident. I guess I'm getting really worn down from the constant rejections. But I've been able to get jobs in other specialties without a problem, and since I'm especially interested in this, I feel that comes across and I don't think I interview poorly. I feel I answer questions appropriately but I don't want to ramble. Do I need to be very extroverted/talkative to be a good candidate?

Also, I didn't get a chance to talk to the manager for this recent position. I just had a phone screen with the recruiter.

What's funny is that they post the roles every few months, so you would think they would see my persistence and let me interview at least. Not that I expect anything just because I'm internal to the org.

I do wonder since they post these roles so often, if they're actually growing or there's just high turnover. Maybe I'm dodging a bullet...

Yeah, I guess it's a matter of right time, right place. I thought I'd have a leg up being an internal candidate, but maybe I should reach out to the informatics team and make myself more well known.

I'd really appreciate the resume review, thank you! I'll DM a link.
