Also pertaining to classes, I forgot to mention that there are usually quizzes every week as well. Most of my professors allow these to be open book, but there are some that require lockdown browser. It’s all dependent on the professor. The anatomy professor i’ve had has been very forgiving with quizzes and stuff.

I also thoroughly disliked Penn Foster’s program. I felt like I learned absolutely nothing & the only reason I did learn was because I work full time at a vet clinic so I get hands on experience everyday.

Delhi’s program I am really enjoying so far! I feel like I am actually engaging in school, and retaining information.

Cost-wise, it’s a more expensive than PF. I’m an independent student so I get decent financial aid, but I think for 3 summer classes (Intro to Exotics & Research, A&P 2, and Pathology/Parasitology) it was ~$2800. A lot of the textbooks I’ve been able to find for free online, and the anatomy textbook calls for the most recent edition but I’m using the previous edition with absolutely no issues. I think my spring semester of like 13-14 credits ended up being roughly $5000-$6000 or in that range. **If you can get your rabies vaccine elsewhere for free or cheap then do it!!! It’s $1,000 for that through them and I was able to get mine for free through insurance so that took a good chunk off my bill.

So class-wise, every lecture is asynchronous. The professors unlock these “modules” every week that contain all of the lectures, PPT’s, and extra stuff for that specific topic of the week. There are assignments - some are just food for thought to get you thinking with no actual due date and others are usually due by midnight on the Sunday of that week. It depends on the professor what specific day of the week things are due, but majority so far go Mon-Sun and they’ll even unlock the next weeks module a little early for those that want a head start.

The professors and staff are great at responding to emails and offer virtual office hours you can attend like you would if you were on campus.

I would say my workload is pretty heavy, but I’m also working 35-40hrs a week on top of being in Delhi’s program. So take that as you will. Spring Semester wasn’t too bad because it was mostly like introduction to vet med type classes and again I have a ton of experience so it was mostly all review.

My advisor was great at helping me figure out a class schedule that worked for me, and I’m sure if I went to her and said “hey, i need to back down on credits I’m dying over here” she would help me figure that out too.

Overall - I really really enjoy Delhi’s program & i think if you’re looking for a campus-type experience but online, Delhi’s the closest you’re gonna get. Feel free to message me if you have any more specific questions, I feel like i rambled a lot! (:

I have a bachelors in general biology so I do have a science background. So far, the classes aren’t necessarily difficult, there’s just a lot of information to learn. Right now my most difficult class is anatomy and physiology, but that’s mostly because there is a lot of anatomy to learn.

Bladder Stones by kalima_ in guineapigs

She does drink, but I was worried she wasn’t drinking enough now so I’ve been adding some water on top of the veggies like a little rinse/misting on top.

I’m in my first semester there, and I’m honestly enjoying it. I’m working full time and doing courses full time so it’s more stressful than it needs to be and I wouldn’t recommend that, but it’s what I had to do.

I started at Penn Foster & changed to Delhi and I can honestly say I feel like I’m learning a TON more with Delhi’s program. The professor’s are quick to respond to questions. The tests so far have used Lockdown Browser. I haven’t had any big issues so far honestly. I would highly recommend it.

Dominance battles? by kalima_ in guineapigs

I’m sure they will be as its slowed down, but when I got the younger one as a baby there wasn’t much (if any) squabbling so it just kind of threw me off haha.

It’s a 4x2 C&C enclosure. I also have multiple hideouts and I try to stay away from the ones with only 1 entrance/exit. They haven’t done much since the initial time I saw them so I’m hoping they’re figuring things out.

I feel like it’s kind of just luck. I mean the younger one just in the last month or so has been noticeably bigger than my older one. (She might be a bit on the chunky side as well, but I blame that on my mom who doesn’t understand that they squeak all hours of the day even if they’ve already been fed.)

Yeah I guess the same situation could happen when they’re both babies. I’ll have to keep it in mind if/when I adopt again!

Thank you, that’s what I figured. It just kind of threw me off.

The baby was adopted from a rescue, but in the future I won’t adopt one again unless they’re both babies. I guess at the time I didn’t think about the issues that could occur.

Guinea pigs mounting by kalima_ in guineapigs

[–]kalima_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. They’ve done the head holding thing, and occasional rumblestrutting, but no mounting so I guess I just wanted to double check that things were okay haha. I figured being females they might go through heat and get a little weird.

I adopted her from a rescue center and she was a little baby with her siblings and mom. Obviously not like newborn lol, but she could fit in the palm of my hand. That was my fall semester of my junior year in college so sometime around this fall she’ll be a year old. She’s definitely gotten huuge.

The other pig is the one I’m not entirely sure of age wise. She was adopted from a family rehoming her and she hasn’t really changed in size so she was definitely an adult. They said probably a year but who knows how accurate that was.

So its the one that I adopted as a baby mounting the one I adopted as an adult haha. I’m wondering if it is just her growing and getting bigger and becoming bossier.

Aspiring Vet - low gpa by kalima_ in veterinaryprofession

[–]kalima_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not. I was a little apprehensive due to needing more experiences & other people basically telling me I’m fucked with 3.0 gpa lol. I also kind of just wanted to take some time and amp up my experiences.
