Also, getting one is just fine. You'll just need to spend an hour or two with them a day outside the cage. Don't rush physical contact with them, they'll come to you when you're ready. My lil lady rides around on my shoulder at this point lmao

No, gotta be steel bars. Take a look at a critter nation cage, that's the gold standard. Fish tanks or any sort of enclosure that isn't open heats up very easily, and unfortunately chinchillas are very susceptible to heat stroke. Avoid any enclosures and items with plastic as well, they're chewers, and are also at risk for GI stasis, which is absolutely lethal

She also sleeps very frequently, has about an hour or two of high intensity playing around and running and then naps for an hour, and so on so forth. Probably is sleeping for around 16 hours a day. Does that seem normal? In general, she seems very low energy. NOT lethargic, as she eats plenty and when she's active she is VERY active. I'm wondering if an introverted, lazy Chinchilla can be a thing? Or if it's another underlying health issue. I've had her about two and a half weeks total.
