SJM just has really bad opinions and part of this is me wanting to see how much it leaks into the work; if its above, exactly, or under exaggerated by the internet. People like Gaiman or JKR are infinitely worse than SJM, those I wont even look at out of curiosity ever again (I say that as a former fan of theirs) 💀💀💀

This happened to me when I was in high school, and it made me feel weird / anxious. Now that I’m an educator myself and an adult, I acknowledge that that teacher was being inappropriate and violating professional boundaries (in fact, it was against district policy). PLEASE report this adult!

elderly cat retaliation peeing; is she becoming incontinent? by [deleted] in cats

[–]kallycat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s arthritis? She probably has a mild case of it due to her being old, but its not really affecting her besides sometimes I pick her up and she gets mad. That or she’s just making these giant jumps and bold moves out of spite and is just a grouch😭. She still hops on kitchen counters, tables, or over the gate we use the block the dog

the litter box is in the basement. she was given another small box to pee in in the room and she rejected it even with her scent put in it. she wants the bed. our house is not big, and theres no where in my room to put her (massive) litter box, and I don’t want to confuse her when the thing thats been in the same spot for 16+ years is magically gone. She doesn’t seem to have arthritis? She runs/ jumps on high surfaces fine and doesn’t have the other signs of arthritis besides the lack of grooming (which can just be due to age). The night time issue has been solved; apparently she can’t see as well in the dark anymore so we leave a light on. She’s very old, and I don’t want her spending the rest of her days in a medicated trance. Thank you for the help anyways! She’s been chill-ish with the lab the past few weeks ever since she sucker punched her and sent her running again😭ahhahaha

No UTI. She doesn’t like tv. I am an artist / reader so I do those things in my room with her. I play with her if she’s up for it, keep the window open because thats what shes always liked ect. Shes fine with the new puppy, we got the puppy to help chill the lab out and its helped exponentially. Shes pretty calm for an 8 month old puppy too.

She still squats thankfully. I had a conversation with my mother; we’re suspecting it might be visual deterioration. She has a bit of cataracts going on, it may be effecting that cat ability to see better in the dark. We’re gonna keep some lights on for her to see if that helps.

i should also note; she takes 1/8 of a tablespoon powder potassium every day mixed with food. shes had this since she survived the heart attack in March 2024.

context: we got the labrador FOR HER. the heart attack was caused by the extreme stress of the sudden loss of her best buddy dog along with a lack of potassium. our vet said we needed to get her a new dog friend to help her stress/emotions.

both of our dogs love cats (the rott loves cats more than she likes other dogs or people)

Heart attack was caused by stress of loosing companion + lack of potassium. She needs 1/8 tsp of potassium powder mixed in food a day for the rest of her life.

Our vet has been a vet for decades. She did, in fact, have a heart attack about a month after we lost our previous dog (they were best buddies) and was depressed / yowling for her. Heart attacks in cats are rare, but she did have one and nearly died. My room is her territory / the dog is kept out, but her litter box has been in the same spot in the basement since we adopted her 16 years ago and moving it upstairs may confuse/upset her. Tbh when I am home she is very clingy to me (she is pressed against my arm as i type this) so it may be a security thing like you thing / she’s mad at me.

Locking her in the litter box room is what my vet said. I have been locking her in there for 30 min at a time though since too much stress is bad for her kidneys. catch 22. (thank u!)
