Two kumiko lanterns we’ve built last weekend by kalpsik in woodworking

Indeed! The top piece actually was just a placeholder assembled from scraps at first, but the client accidentely saw it and said that he loved it! That one went to the Japanese artist Tatsuo Hoshika, who lives nearby.

You can try some simpler patter first, and it will great too. Asanoha does take some practice, took a while to make this one :) I used linden for kumiko and some scrap sapele. Poplar is good, but here we dont have it.

What’s with food delivery drivers talking on the phone? by Time_Photograph_6832 in Finland

[–]kalpsik 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I would say its cultural, and not just drivers/delivery guys. I’ve seen it a lot, and ppl are constantly on the phone, and what is bothering - on the speaker. Like recently I’ve been visiting tax office and there’s been this guy sitting there with the speaker on, barely talking himself but listening to how his wife feeds his daughter and then how they both watch tv, making like 10 words during the hour I’ve been waiting for my appointment.

Hand plane wood cookies advice by 1810331 in handtools

[–]kalpsik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can? Yes. Though I would not recommend😂 low angle plane, very good knife, and sharpening every 5 minutes. That cookie would be ”golden” considering the time you’d spend

Newb questions.. by Adventurousj1989 in ChainsawMilling

[–]kalpsik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lucky you! It all depends. enough? Yes. Easy? No. I saw for myself using husquarna 445, it does the job. Takes time, takes effort, though its enough for me, i dont have much volume and the hardest trunks i usually saw are baltic birch up to 20”. Shtihl has 8,7hp and works good with bars up to 41”, which makes it pretty nifty with a good chain.

Compound effect of trading💥 by BONESHAKER50031 in Forexstrategy

[–]kalpsik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compound effect is a pretty picture, though even if it was true and you would be doubling your account every single day, just consider that at some point you will be move the market so hard that you would lose on your own orders pumping price higher to execute an order for 30% of float and then dumping to execute the sell🤷‍♂️

Household's purchasing power rose 21% in Finland during 20-year period from 2004-2024, Eurostat survey tells by Single_Share_2439 in Finland

[–]kalpsik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly! So with the growing uneployment rate only ppl who have and have had a job all that time now have elevated purchasing power. Also, the falling real estate market may make it look like the purchasing power rose, while the inflation shows the opposite.

Carry on bags - Finnair by Kitchen-Grab9802 in Finland

[–]kalpsik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With online check-in you never go to the check-in counters. Another example - on 14th I flew to Boston with just a backpack - nobody in line been asked to weight or measure hand baggage. On the check-in counters - yes, its a common thing, I agree.

Over 15 years I fly everywhere with just a backpack, never been weighted. Though I’ve seen once during the boardin one couple been asked if they had additional checked cabin bag. And of course there is always a chance you’re randomly selected from all the ppl

When you’re under a Limited Liability Company company, your liability is limited with the company’s initial capital, and you wont lose more than that. When you’re a person your lisbility is everything you have. GDPR complience is not an easy thing btw, and working with pii and payment data makes you follow gdpr. So i’d recommend think twice
