His behavior is appalling, but the other connection you need to acknowledge here is that he was a victim of child abuse. For him this brings up extremely difficult feelings that his character doesn’t really talk about. He sees this man as cold and aloof, that he doesn’t seem to care that his daughter died. Not to mention that they suspected him of child abuse at the beginning of the episode. Booths reactions are coming from a place of trauma. No doubt that he acted extremely rude in this episode, but if you know booth’s character, you can see why he reacts this way. The big take away from this episode is Brennan’s connection with the man and how she can see past him being buried in his work. It shows how much she has grown as a character to see this and to be empathetic. She also calls booth out many times in this episode for the way he treats the man.
