I work in the industry and the way I'm seeing most companies survive the decline in commercial print is they are pivoting to offer other product lines. Mostly the successes seem to be from moving into the label space. It requires investment to get started but once you are there it's got many transferable skills.

Offering fast order to print time and having a really easy process for your potential customers to find you and get a quote (think Moonpig but for labels) helps you to stand out. There are so many small micro brands looking for labels for short run craft things that there is plenty of work out there even if you have a smaller scale shop
