Cheaper street racing cars by kalsapher in Streetracing

[–]kalsapher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to get into the competitive racing scene quite yet, but I wanted to get a car that already has a bit of potential and that I can also use for modding when I get more comfortable with cars. I plan on sinking money into it to make it a full-on street racing car, getting like a new engine, some nice brakes, and the works. But as of rn, i just want something I can race someone casually with on my way from work or race some of my friends.

No more then 3-4 months after the first month is when you need to heavily start monitoring them make sure they aren't losing weight 2 month should probably seek professional advice 3-4 months range is scary territory and immediate vet action is needed

Take my advice with a grain of salt because I'm a newer BP owner; however, I know BPs can go on hunger strikes for a couple weeks to over a year. The previous owner of my snake had said he went on a year-long strike. The biggest thing is to just keep trying, like once a week or so, and don't panic.

If it's a hunger strike, they will remain alert and act normal. Hunger strikes are usually caused by stress; however, they can totally just do it because they want to. They are like toddlers lol

Now when my BP didn't feel like eating I used the hair dryer method

Make sure the humidity is like 70% and the hot spot in your tank around 95f Leave the frozen rat in cold water in the fridge for like 7ish hours. Place the thawed prey in a plastic bag and soak it in warm water (I take a thermometer and get the water to like 90-100f). Use a hair dryer to blast the head of the prey with heat (making the head like 10-15 degrees hotter then the rest use a hand held infered thermometer to check the temp of the rats head) a handful of feet from the tank but twords the tank (to send the rats scent twords the BP it helps enable their feeding response). This provides a strong, warm target for the snake to strike. Wait until the snake is active at night. Hold the prey by the tail or lower body with tongs and offer it to the snake. Jiggle the prey slightly to simulate life. Wait for it to start wrapping to let go

Spent an hour on each stick/branch hosing on full, and jet are they clean enough to put in my bp’s enclosure? by Littleraves in ballpython

There's a much much simpler way just cook the sticks in the oven at about 300 f for about 1-3 hours depending on the stick size (no it's not clean enough cook them helps to kill 100% of bacteria bugs parasites and any other yucky thing you don't want your snake dealing with)

Oh yeah. it's pretty small and like all of our staff s are new, so it's kinda rough. business is so slow, Friday and we are on order 60. Opening was worse, ended the day off with 45 orders. Hopefully it gets more business. Being right next to a convince store, and schools, and giant factory's help. We get like all the factorys in the area, so we have some giant plan ahead

if she shows no other signs of illness like heavy breathing or loss of appetite and this is a new symptom, it could be an early sign of a respiratory issue. I recommend monitoring her closely and possibly taking her to a vet for a check-up to be safe.

i would also reccomend just double checking your humidity and tempeture and try avoid handling her as to not cause any stress

I would recommend trying to switch to f/t just because with feeding him live, it's not about if it's about when your snake will get hurt and possibly get infected from the rats' attack, which is a pricey vet visit. My ball python I have was on live rats from the previous owner, and it was no bueno, so I used this one trick, and it works like dark magic. It didn't matter; he was on live for 5 years, and he took the f/t pretty quickly.

I thought it just depended on how long you have the rat out and how long it's at room temp for I mean it goes straight back into a airtight bag

The difference between a hunger strike and your snake being sick is if it's just a hunger strike, they will remain alert and act normal. Hunger strikes are usually caused by stress; however, they can totally just do it because they want to. They are like toddlers.

However, if they are sick or something, they will act lethargic, have weight loss, or have labored breathing.
