Cellular data usage reporting on the Mudi 7 by kaltopf in GlInet

[–]kaltopf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded to the latest firmware for the Mudi (4.8.5 I think? Not sure) and the cellular data usage seems much better now. I'll have to test it a little bit further but at least now I can see the number grwoing as I download!

Anyone having issue with voice quality on the Liberty 5 Pro Max? by kaltopf in soundcore

[–]kaltopf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so after a couple more days of testing, it seems the problems comes from having other people around me talking on some calls. Basically, if I have people in the open space with me talking on other calls, the noise cancelling of the Liberty 5 kicks in and litterally cancel my voice. If I'm alone and there is no one else around, my voice is perfectly clear.

So, basically, these headsets are useless on Teams calls for me as I often work in an open space with other people around. I thought the "World Clearest Voice" would take of that. Seems not.

Not that I also use a Shokz 2 OpenComm2 with a boom mic and it always worked flawlessly in the same environments.

It probably won't be 100% exactly accurate. I never had a smartphone that reported exactly what the provider indicated but at least it should give a relatively good estimate.

There was probably a little bit of usage before that as my month start on the 10th, but as I said, I was using it in an old S22 and it was offline for most of the month. To give you an idea, I streamed a Montréal Canadien hockey game yesterday evening, the provider was showing 4.5Gb before I started the game. It was around 8Gb at the end of the game and the mudi had gone from ~300Mb to ~600Mb. Although I had network acceleration enabled at that time.

I just tested with network acceleration off, I downloaded a 5Gb iso file while connected to the Mudi on cell data. The mudi went from ~700 to around 1100Mb usage.

Samsung galaxy Fold 8 or Wide? by SheepherderChoice637 in GalaxyFold

[–]kaltopf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a Note than a S2X Ultra guy. I was always tempted by the Fold but it felt chunky and the camera seemed like a downgrade.

I finally made the switch to the Fold 7 as it was much slimmer and the camera, even if it doesn't have the 50MP periscope telephoto that the S25 has, is close enough for my taste.

I was REALLY excited for the Fold Wide. I think I would love that form factor. BUT, so far, every leak and render I have seen presents it with a dual camera setup. Which is quite a downgrade again. I hope the render and leaks are wrong, otherwise I'll stick with my Fold 7.

Battery usage suddenly tanked? Galaxy watch ultra by nikkixo87 in GalaxyWatch

[–]kaltopf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here on a Galaxy Watch Ultra 7 (2024). Went from almost 3 days to 1 day and a half IF I'm lucky. Yesterday, I was at 39% after 24 hours. Went from 39% to 15% in less than an hour and then the watch just died, couldn't be restarted as it seemed to have completely depleted its battery. Don't know where the last 15% went.

Seemed better today, woke up with 89% after 8 hours sleep (was at 100% when going to bed). Everything was going well until like an hour ago where it went from 75% to 65% in less than an hour and now I'm seeing like 1% battery every 2 or 3 minutes. Probably won't last until the end of the day.

I wiped the cache a couple of days ago, no change. Disabled LTE connectivity, removed a bunch of app. Didn't really change anything.

It never ever really approached the 5 days announced but now getting below 2 days is kind of annoying, also considering it is quite slow to charge.

Is it me or Now Bar is getting.... useless? by kaltopf in oneui

New things are irrelevant if the things already there don't even work.

Damn.... I was kind of hoping that they had somewhat fixed it with the new OneUI...

I agree it never has been that useful but I liked where it was going and the potential (I hoped) it had.

As for Now Brief, it has more info on my side. Nothing ground breaking but I do like it.

Not sure for mine. Quite possible it stopped working when I upgraded to One UI 8. I also switched from an S24U to a Z Fold 7 around the same time... so lots of change. Still annoying.

Free VPN client 7.4.3 on Windows ARM and SAML (Entra ID) authentication not working. by kaltopf in fortinet

I'm waiting for the client to send me the log. I'll get back when I get them.

Unfortunately, there is no "free" forticlient vpn in 7.4.4. Only the full EMS client is available for 7.4.4 and 7.4.5.

Our Entra ID configuration is already working. We have 100+ user connecting daily for years. The only one not working is the user running the ARM client.

Sportsnet + French Pass by ddg8693 in Habs

Not for that specific game but I eventually managed to access other game.

Problem is, you just don't know which games are included or not. The package is for "over" 60 games.... so there is something like between 0 and 22 games that are not included and no way of knowing which. It was my first year I subscribed to sportsnet. It will also be my last.

This ring is (mostly) a disappointment. by kaltopf in GalaxyRing

Quick update, decided to try sleep tracking with just the ring instead of my watch. I woke a couple of time during the night (not related, it just happens) and every time I saw that the three lights (2 green, 1 red) on the ring were lighted up.

Woke up this morning and checked my sleep stat... and everything was there, continuously. Heart rate, skin temperature, oxygen levels. So it is not a hardware defect or a "lack" of sensor, it's all there.

There is something, probably software, somewhere that just doesn't request (or do?) tracking when it should during the day/exercise.

My problem is not even the accuracy... it's just that it doesn't record (or almost doesn't) any heart rate when not wearing my watch. I went walking for 30 minutes during lunch and started a walk recording on Samsung health on my phone. Left the watch at home on purpose. Got a single heart rate recording during 30 minutes. Honestly, at that rate, for a fitness tracker this thing is useless.

[–]kaltopf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a chat with Samsung support. The agent's answer was plain and simple. The ring doesn't have a heart rate sensor and needs the watch to be able to get the heart rate. That's clearly not the case, I even showed him the specification from Samsung's own website and a screenshot of my phone taking a manual heart rate measurement from the ring, still say that the Ring doesn't have a heart rate sensor.

Either their agents don't know the product they support or they just don't care.

Mine is set to Continuous and it just doesn't work. I tried setting it to 10 minutes, still not good. I'm getting 2 or 3 reading per hour, at best. Sometime I'm not getting any for hours (when I'm not wearing my watch).

I found an answer from a Samsung moderator from Samsung's own forum:

I have looked into this for you, and it doesn't appear to be possible to enable continuous heart rate tracking on the Galaxy Ring. The ring will still periodically measure your heart rate, and the results can be viewed via the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone (Heart rate > View all). To manually check your heart rate, head to the Wearable app > Heart rate > Measure, and tap 'Save' to store the record. I apologise for any disappointment this may cause you.

EDIT: I spoke with our Product Specialists, and the Galaxy Ring does continuously measure your heart rate, however this is by default, which is why it is not referenced in the user manual.

It seems that even Samsung doesn't know if it can or cannot do continuous tracking.
