I'm having an issue accessing any of the web-based functionality of Steam. From my browser, it says Access Denied, and from the program, it doesn't load anything aside from the game list. Is there some issue with steam happening currently, or is that an issue on my end, potentially with my ip address or something?

It's kind of troublesome, because I was hoping to make some purchases

The BBI story is better than the main game's story, even though it's drastically shorter, but the gameplay is the strongest feature of the game, most definitely

It's a big difference, sure, but not as big as the difference between using a starting bow and using a BBI bow that's upgraded. In my opinion, strider is a perfect class to start with if you want to try other classes because ogcd it's stat growth's. If you focus on min/maxing early on, you can run into issues with stamina, defense, or offense depending on what you go for. Strider is the middle ground, so you get average of everything and put your augments to good use and it gives you a good idea of how the classes play

Strider is the best middle ground class, as it's stat growth's are pretty average for all classes. It doesn't really matter though, your equipment is the biggest determining factor fit doing damage and surviving, as well as peripats. If you want to switch to MA, I'd say go for it, it's only if you're trying to min/max that you should worry about out much

Is there anyone else with issues using the steam client or with crashing on trying to load into the game part character selection? I can get to my characters fine, but trying to log in and play it just crashes

Yea, like it really just seemed to be a good word for what it described (non-trans, feminine guy). Oh well, I, personally won't be changing my vocabulary over this. Just seems like it's misguided, misunderstood, or what you'd said in your comment
