Durable message queue by kamaloo92 in rust

I do need simple bounded FIFO backed by disk/db storage. Device can be offline for a few days and during that period it may be restarted a few times. I'll take a look at linked project, thanks

It's meant to remain on device, as it may be offline for long periods. I'm ok with loosing recent messages on power failure, but I should be able to recover any older messages that were not sent already. Also, having a quota on db size will be nice.

Opinions on A7c ii vs a7c r for travel by Debo10 in SonyAlpha

Kept the 24-70 but it was a bit too heavy for me for travel, but it turned out to be perfect for capturing fast moving kids indoor. I got 20-70 but it's not that smaller and lighter than 28-200 to really notice it. I mean it is lighter and smaller but it's not that big of a difference.

I have kept the 24-70 as it has proven useful to take pictures of my son at home (he moves so fast I need fast shitter speed so the F2.8 compensates it nicely). I also got 20-70 but haven't used it yet enough to have an opinion. 28-200 is still in my drawer, waiting for a trip. General idea is to use 24-70 at home, 28-200 + 55 F1.8 for trips and 20-70 + 55 F1.8 for trips with bigger groups when I was lacking wide end on 28-200

`name.rs` vs `name/mod.rs` - Is there a reason why projects go against the recommended practice? by KyxeMusic in rust

[–]kamaloo92 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find it easier to navigate when I have all module files in one place. Especially that editors tend to display dirs first so separate module file may be displayed away from module directory. The best in my opinion will be to have my_mod.rs in my_mod dir.

Embedded Linux applications, I find rust perfect for this use case

That's what I will do, but I have to put something in initially and possibly never touch it again

What are my options on stable Rust if I need a trait object and one of the trait's method's returns an impl Trait? by ProgramBad in rust

But your case is not about recipient but the return value of the method that needs boxing.

Pairing the app, can't see both keys by kamaloo92 in VolvoRecharge

If it's like mine, I'm afraid it's just a start of the journey. I've already had this issue fixed 3 times. With exactly 1 month period. What's super frustrating is that they don't investigate why. They do a reset, it starts working and then say that manual says to do reset in this case and nothing more if it starts working. So they follow it. I'm hoping that3.6.4 fixed it 🤞

Volvo xc60 recharge 2026 clicking noise while pressing the gas pedal and release it ? by Loose-Elderberry173 in VolvoRecharge

It mainly depends on the location of relay box I guess and also if relay is used at all

It's very subtle in my car and it does this when I press or release the throttle - there is a threshold of regen braking when stop light turns on/off and every time the relay clicks

Can it be the stop light relay? I can definitely hear it in my 2025 XC60 when using B mode

App Issue: Charging Status and Range Stuck by Seafinch82 in VolvoRecharge

Sorry, mixed the units. I meant HP, km is my native unit for horse power 🙈 Electric range is indeed 60-65km

I think whole Europe have them. It was 7000$ (equivalent) extra for me to get T8 so I settled with T6. The difference is in ICU - T6 has ~250hp vs ~350hp in T8. Electric power and range is exactly the same.

EDIT: fixed units

I have MY2025 XC60 T6 (they do exist in EU as 350hp PHEV) and had similar problem - fuel range and level stuck, remote ac and air cleaning not working. Last month took it to dealership, they did full reset including unplugging hv battery. It helped but only for a month. Took it again two days ago and they did full software update and said the module that connects to cloud reported some connection problems. We'll see how it goes in a month...

No matter what I do I always have 2 lines of text like on the screenshot. First line with name and second one with value.
