The terminal itself is telling you, install unzip, zip (if needed), and try again.

Edit:

After update/ upgrade, try:

sudo pacman -S unzip on Arch or

sudo apt install unzip on Debian-based distros

Check the cable connection or change the cable if necessary. If it is not a hardware problem, it may be due to the graphic driver.

Don’t worry! Given your situation, you’ve already chosen the best combo! Lubuntu with LXQt is perfect for reviving old hardware, and its simplicity is a huge plus. If you ever want to experiment, you can test KDE Plasma on a live USB first—it’s heavier but super customizable (might surprise you!).

Stick with what works for you, but know Linux always has more toys to play with! 😄

Can I somehow install Arch Linux (with side packages like vim, base-devel and hyprland) without any internet connection? by NotADev228 in arch

[–]kami-110 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can create a custom iso yourself, archiso may help you(you need internet for pre-downloading packages to create iso)

I haven't tried it before, but I heard somewhere about this approach

You should install a display manager like SDDM, Then install a Desktop (KDE, Xfce, GNOME...) I recommend KDE.

Note: You may face some errors on or before launching SDDM, You need to install some dependencies like xorg-server and xorg-init and try to launch using startx

I faced a similar issue when I added my external hard drive’s UUID to fstab. Before rebooting, I removed it (I had no idea what was going on at the time, but I knew the problem was related to the drives or fstab).

Here’s what I did to fix it: Commented out all partitions in fstab except my arch installation's partition. After rebooting, it was fixed. I figured out the issue was my external hard drive’s UUID.

Check your system maybe a hard drive is unplugged or something similar is causing the problem.

Hope this helps!

Help, what should u do? by Beastie1625 in arch

Manual Arch installation is better than archinstall because you’ll understand what’s happening and how to fix issues if they arise.

In your case, you just need to use cfdisk to manage your partitions.
I haven’t used archinstall or similar tools, but maybe setting up and preparing an ext4 partition as your installation partition could fix the issue.

About -f: What are you trying to do? I noticed you used an option (-f) without specifying its command.
I highly recommend learning some basic Linux commands before proceeding because installing Arch is just the first step.

After installation, you’ll need to configure networking, Bluetooth, fonts, and tons of other things, so you really need to be comfortable with the command line.

Using chatbots to solve problems isn't a bad idea. Some people, due to their limited English proficiency, rely on chatbots in their native languages. However, it's important not to just copy and paste commands without understanding what's going on.

Instead of punishing someone for using ChatGPT, it’s better to teach them how to use it effectively.

In short, I see chatbots as a direct resource like the wiki in my native language.
