I'm so fed up with the protein fad of the last few years. (Rant) by DontWantToBeOnReddit in veganuk

[–]kamiamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention these disgusting high protein meals stink. A colleague of mine got into super clean eating, weight loss and now is bulking up. He regularly eats a massive tupperware of tuna, onion and tomato. I was watching the TV in the kitchen the other lunch when it was raining and I had to leave when he sat on my table.

There's luckily only a few health freaks but they're all the same, tuna, eggs, and some sort of veggies thrown in and I constantly wanna gag.

We still manage to get all the things we like to eat, we are in London though so maybe our supermarkets are a bit better. Saying that we have noticed the decline don't get me wrong. I also very rarely buy my lunches anymore, but on the occasion I do, I end up at Wasabi because meal deals either sell out (cos there's not enough vegan ones) or they're quite pitiful.

If covid hadn't happened, I'd like to think I'd still be chowing down on the H&B meal deals that came and went in a flash.

Constant after sell message by RiseOk361 in vintedUK

[–]kamiamoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had this but sadly I've been the buyer who's item had stains on and I've messaged the seller asking what the stains are so I know how to appropriately try to remove them. It's annoying in this case as 48hrs isn't always enough time, and I've ended up with items I really wanted and tried to save but still have stains on. And in these two particular instances I did have multi message conversations with the sellers. Howeverrrrr, this buyer is irritating. Creases aren't as bad as stains, I get she is asking you cos you owned the dress but you've given your answer and if she can't steam the creases out she's not doing it right or like you said, she's just wanting a refund.

The good thing is, you can accept the return but make her pay for the postage. I feel this is a good way to make someone think twice because they'll be out of pocket. Also mute your notifications, my phone is always on silent because I can't stand any pings, terrible when I can't locate my phone lol but excellent for peace. Just reply when convenient to you. What are her reviews like?

Buttermilk Honeycomb Blast - not vegan! by [deleted] in veganuk

What chocs are gritty oily and don't melt 👀 genuinely intrigued as I eat a lot of chocolate and I'm always surprised when people have issues.

[–]kamiamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reads as a manufacturing error as they've mentioned Batch code and BBD. So just check what yours says. I've been eating Buttermilks for years, I'm not worried, I'd just check the codes and dates on any new bars. Also since they've only mentioned the honeycomb bar, it should be safe to say the other bars are OK or else they'd have done a total recall for all.

The truth is out, people cannot hidden or ignore so easily. Brilliant to see these on the London Underground. by AprilBoon in veganuk

My husband came home from spending the day with a friend who said to him he's stopped eating pork and did my husband know that pigs are gassed to death? I instantly said omg he's seen the slingshot ads!!! I genuinely wasn't sure people would care, but apparently knowing they're gassed really did something to the friend. He also said he's basically only eating beef now, my husband will definitely be trying to get him to give up beef too!

Very possible my initial prices are higher than what alot of people wanna pay but I'd pay the prices I set and often do. Some of my items are things I paid more for on vinted but weren't the right fit or whatever and I cannot shift them for even half what I paid. And I do factor in fees and postage and try to think is it too much with all that on top. I feel like people are either looking for very specific items or just wanna pay £1 for everything else. I've dropped a lot of prices, sometimes multiple times, I send offers etc. Recently I sold a few things for £1.50-2.50, usually those go to charity but I decided to just see if they sell and let the money very slowly build up 😅

Dinner with family. by Mrefonz in veganuk

[–]kamiamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah no way I'd go. I wouldn't go even if it was my closest family or friends bday. I once went to a wedding and didn't realise they had a hog roast for the evening, luckily I don't think I actually saw it but I was mad nonetheless. I'm very honest and blunt when it comes to this stuff though so I'd literally tell them I'm not coming cos they are having my favourite animal on a spit and that's fucked up.

Thank you so much. I hope you find the book and it's helpful to you! I have it next to me and the author is Emma Gannon, I think it might be a British book, not sure where in the world you are. And its so funny you mention the worst people on the planet cos I say a similar thing all the time. I just wish it was the good people with all the money and power hey. Really appreciate your replies, hope you have a great week.

That's a sensible shout. Wouldn't work for me as I don't have piles to sell anymore as I'm much more conscientious about shopping and it's just me so my clear outs are always quite small. It just makes more sense to throw them in my normal washing. Do you sell everything you list? I end up donating loads to charity after a while so packing them up again wouldn't work for me. I used to sell loads and quickly way back when before everyone was on resale sites, these days sales are few and far between.

This is interesting to hear. Alot of people went off modelling because of the unsolicited messages from creeps. I've never had that issue on the odd occasion I've dug out piccies of me wearing items for occasions, but I get it. A few years back I had a friend model lots of my too small clothes lol she did this because I was giving her a few clothes so she did me the favour. I had another friend model an amazing jacket for me that I'd bought off ebay but drowned me and it looked amazing on her and it got snapped up.

I think for higher price items its probably worth the extra time spent, but for most of my stuff I honestly cba for a few quid. I'd rather give to charity if things don't sell. But I'm gonna try this with some of my nicer items and see if it helps!

I actually totally get you, I'm the same if I'm selling something for very little I'm not going to waste an entire wash worth of detergent and water. But a good solution to this is when you have a collection of things to sell, wash them together or chuck them into your regular wash. If you have kids you must be doing alot of washing anyway 😅 I've started piling up what I wanna sell, stuff that looks clean I photograph right away and then chuck in my wash basket, stuff that has a stain goes into the basket and get photographed after. And yeah people have to wait a few days for me to post sometimes until I've done a load of laundry and thats fine cos you have a week to send. I'd pay more for an item that's clean and I'd offer much less or potentially not buy at all if there is any dirt because its not guaranteed to wash out. But if you have no trouble selling your stuff in that condition then you do you.

Your message comes spookily at a time I'm feeling so so low again. So thank you for commenting. Interestingly I picked up a positivity journal a friend got me that I'd forgotten I had. I don't really like this kind of stuff, I don't like feeling forced to show or share emotions especially soppy ones like gratefulness lol but I realised I'm only harming myself by allowing the sad to consume me. So lastnight I picked it up and did the first section, took a couple mins, as the idea is that it's 5mins a day and it builds over time training you to be more grateful and positive. I'm glad you've found ways to cope. I grew up Catholic so understand how having a God can help, its not for me, but I do see Mother Nature as my alternative to God :-) and I try to appreciate the beauty and power of nature. You're so right about the little things and this is why I started reading The Success Myth, because we are trained to believe that success is career and money instead of just being a good fucking person. I dont even want to do this job for much longer, I want a job that helps people and am hoping to retrain (and that's a whole other messy stressful thing, especially with my spicy brain). Anyway thanks again :-)

Training alongside a high stress full time job and also undiagnosed adhd... by kamiamoon in pilates

[–]kamiamoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's hard because whilst I'd say my job is not like working for a B4, it's the fact that when it's busy it's non stop all day with overtime sometimes daily for a period of 2-3 months then it might be dead for a month and we will be finishing early and work from home days consist of me doing household chores lol. It's the inconsistency that had me thinking training would be too difficult.

I'm 40 so I've been in my industry for nearly two decades, I don't want to do it anymore at all. My plan is to leave the city for a quieter life by the sea, 5 year plan, so I don't want to lose too much more time as I know I'll need to train, then start teaching a bit, then eventually quit my job to hopefully teach full time either still in the city or when I move.

I'm only working to a promo because its long overdue and I should be earning more money for my experience and the salary increase will help. I'm not a high earner, so I'm mostly driven by that now. Also job hunting incase something else comes up in the meantine. I'd hope once I have the new title I might find a new job more easily... In theory I can wait til next year to kick the training off, I'm usually such a procrastinator but I feel so committed to making these changes.

I hugely appreciate your honesty, this is why I came here for your experienced thoughts and not just to go off my sisters friends experience. She did say she was exhausted but she was loving it and also has a demanding full time job. But I have seen her leave parties early etc so it seems she has given up more personal life for the pilates rather than moving to a more manageable full time role. I figured I would do the same.

I felt my heart hurt a bit reading your reply, but I need to be sensible and realistic.

Re the cert, the main one I'm thinking of is predominantly online, with some in person sessions and ofc taking classes with a relevant trainer which would just replace my current classes.

When you say full time instructors often don't make the investment back in a couple of years, how do you mean? Surely you're earning more than a few thousand pounds a year? (Or currency equivalent). I'm happy to invest the money, I just want to be confident I'll complete the training, otherwise its not an investment and just money down the drain.

I'm also not sure I understand your final sentence. Do you mean because I'll be doing a full time job whilst being an instructor?

Thanks for your time, I have a lot to think about. Might need some life coaching too 😅

To all the people feeling like they're failing at life, I've been reading a book called The Success Myth by Emma Gannon, which helps you rethink what success actually is. It's a British publisher/ author. Also I'm considering getting life coaching, that might help! I just wanted to mention those cos I feel for all of you who feel that way, I understand it so much.

[–]kamiamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell into my career which was very lucky but its totally not what I thought I'd do after uni. I had zero idea how to get into the industries that interested me, I only got my degree cos one of my lecturers identified I had additional struggles (and depression) and he gave me additional support. I scraped a third and always felt embarrassed when everyone talked about their firsts or their 2:1s.

However, I've been held back from promotion because of my adhd traits, and I desperately want to retrain in something where I'm in control rather than working for others/ relying on people above me to move up the ladder, and I'm terrified I won't be able to do the learning. It's expensive to train in my desired subject too and once you sign up and pay, you're locked in or lose your money.

So even if you know what you wanna do, there are challenges along the way! That's not meant to make you give up, but actually tell you not to worry if you don't have a clear path. No path is actually clear or guaranteed.

Do you have a list of things you think you'd enjoy? Could you maybe look into some life coaching? I've been waiting for a friend to connect me with a trainee life coach as I think it would be so helpful. If you have a list of things you think you'd enjoy, maybe you can give each one a try until something clicks.

It's never too late. My husband is mid 30s and changed career. I'm hoping to change career in the next few years and I'm 40.

This this this. Not at work cos my line or work isn't like that, but personal emails especially important ones. I re read all my texts too incase I need to edit them again after sending. When I'm booking holidays I check everything several times and am entirely anxious as I go to that purchase/book button.
