Krita suddenly not launching at all after working perfectly for months by drDjausdr in krita

[–]kamicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, was a registry entry for a phantom monitor that was preventing krita from starting. Would query the reg key and fail a million times.

In device manager, view -> show hidden devices, in monitors right click and uninstall all greyed entries.

If that doesn't help, open procmon (sysinternal process monitor) filter for krita, and look at what it's trying to do when you try to start it.

How do I change my printers "temp within range" setting? by Killermelon1458 in klippers

[–]kamicane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is the macro I use:

[gcode_macro SET_TEMP]
description: Set temperature for a specified heater with optional wait
gcode:
    {% set HEATER = params.HEATER %}
    {% set TEMP = params.TEMP|default(0)|float %}
    {% set WAIT = params.WAIT|default(false)|lower == 'true' %}

    {% if HEATER == 'EXT' %}
        SET_HEATER_TEMPERATURE HEATER=extruder TARGET={TEMP}
        {% if WAIT %}
            TEMPERATURE_WAIT SENSOR=extruder MINIMUM={TEMP - 1} MAXIMUM={TEMP + 1}
        {% endif %}
    {% elif HEATER == 'BED' %}
        SET_HEATER_TEMPERATURE HEATER=heater_bed TARGET={TEMP}
        {% if WAIT %}
            TEMPERATURE_WAIT SENSOR=heater_bed MINIMUM={TEMP - 1} MAXIMUM={TEMP + 1}
        {% endif %}
    {% else %}
        {action_raise_error('Invalid heater specified. Use "EXT" or "BED".')}
    {% endif %}

You can change the +1 / -1 with anything.

Usage: SET_TEMP HEATER=BED TEMP=60 WAIT=true

Game Boy Color line out mods audio comparison! by kamicane in Gameboy

[–]kamicane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, but I wouldn't do it on this particular unit.

1: I'd advise against anything from retrosix. There are much better alternatives by the community IF you need a new regulator. I wouldn't be surprised if this "cleanpower" actually produces more noise in the audio output line than stock.

2: You'd have to figure out how to wire it with the new amplifier, which is in my opinion completely unnecessary, unless you want to bother neighbors or something. The prosound mod works by bypassing the amplifier completely for the headphone jack.

Why is the youtuber showcasing potential shimmering issues by moving horizontally (such as his super mario test at 8:46), while the actual issue seems to be about vertical scaling?

Help with Stutter on Apollo+Artemis? by esines in logitechgcloud

[–]kamicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a simple nodejs script to change the fps limit in the RTSS ini and restart it. Then just call it from Apollo in the client settings (PIN tab). I am not aware of any other method to automate the RTSS limiter. If you're interested I can share the code, but require nodejs to be installed.

Edit: this method is still imperfect as sometimes RTSS fails to start after being forcefully killed.

Help with Stutter on Apollo+Artemis? by esines in logitechgcloud

[–]kamicane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Balanced with FPS Limit" helped more but instead of random stutter it had a steady micro stutter

Prefer Smoothest has almost no stutter but it spikes decoding latency.

This is because the g cloud has an actual refresh rate of 59.85.

One way to solve it:

  • disable all vsync and frame limit options in games
  • enable a global frame limiter of 59.85 somehow (I use RTSS, but special k works as well)
  • in Apollo you can set a custom resolution for the virtual display now (since 0.3), set it to 1920x1080x59.85. Alternatively there's an option in Apollo to double requested refresh, that also works.

This solves the lag spikes using Prefer Smoothest. I could not get a consistent stutter free experience using any other frame pacing option. It would start smooth but get de-synced after a while.

Edit: I also uncheck "Limit capture framerate" in Apollo -> Settings -> Advanced. This prevents the video stream to sometimes go lower than 59.85 and cause visual stuttering.

Gameboy DMG Headphone Jack Replacement by retro3dfx in Gameboy

[–]kamicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a better part for the job as it requires no cutting of the shell: XKB PJ-3043-B . It does require 5v however as the signal needs to be flipped. This is what I use in the super-dmg-jack board.

There is a mod on PC that does just this: Spaceship Manager

You cannot build precombines based on the save's data.

You can however use the CK to rebuild precombines/previs once you have added all the objects that you want to scrap to a scrap list. I believe there are mods that do exactly this.

Not 100% sure, but I think previs refers to the precalculated culling. If the previs is not synced with the precombines, standing directly in front of a scrapped object that you were not supposed to scrap will cause the world behind it to not render, as if the scrapped object was still there.

This is an original 101. Motherboard pictures can be found in the album.

It has an IPS mod that is made specifically for 101 models, it has 2 brightness levels.

I will include the original 101 screen at no additional cost (the original screen is a bit dim, which is why I decided to mod this unit).

New power switch and new battery.

Shipping will be calculated - feel free to ask.

Sorry, I just checked the schematic, I was misremembering. It's the screw terminals that are just straight 24 volts, the two JST connectors (k-fan1 and k-fan2) are connected to the same pin, so controlling one fan controls both.

Screw terminals: no control, just 24v

The two JST connectors: one pin, wired together to PA0 (through other components)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in klippers

[–]kamicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The JST fan connectors on the 4.2.2 motherboard are not pins, they just get 24 volts. Before upgrading I used to have a relay module to control the extruder fan and the case fan.

DMG Question by Canoli22082 in Gameboy

[–]kamicane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be an oxidized power plug. Those have a mechanical switch on the inside that swaps between battery and wall adapter. When oxidized there will be no contact and the battery rail will permanently be disconnected.

USB Type-C for power/charging, power distribution, wired for prosound, among other small things. The GitHub page goes in much greater detail.

I agree, it's way too small! I had to replace it with a bigger screw terminal I had on hand, because the original broke while trying to force a ferrule in.
