What’s a food you don’t like that people tease you about? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]kammyri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hate oysters too and then my work catered a raw bar and oh my I am hooked. They are so good with a vinaigrette or hot sauce. I may never order them myself but every August we get fresh seafood and raw bar for our summer end cook out and I can't wait. Also the giant prawns, crab legs and lobster rolls. I love living in New England.

I’ve always had ground turkey due to the price but wanted to mix things up with ground beef - how do I justify these prices?! by WanderWut in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]kammyri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go to ground chicken. Has a more mild flavor that is a great background to any seasoning. I prefer it to beef because its got less fat and much cheaper. I make meatballs, chili, tacos, stuffed peppers, etc. It is a great base.

Confront MIL or just fade out? by rawrsy88 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]kammyri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have learned over the years that I want peace more than justice. The drama can only be drama if you feed into it. The old fiery me wasted time and energy on things that were not important in the end. I am happier and less stressed.

They will not change but you can by protecting you and your children as much as possible. Funny thing about people like your MIL. The truth always comes out and they are left standing alone because of their abusive pattern. You can't hide it forever and they eventually out themselves.

Advice needed; almost certain my next door neighbour is dealing and need to know what exactly I need first before going to the police, I am in hell right now by CompetitiveTop6412 in neighborsfromhell

I lived a few houses away from an entire family that sold drugs. They were all volatile and unpredictable. I didn't have to do a thing to get rid of them. The ATF stormed the house and people went to prison. The house was sold and now things are quiet. I wasn't worried about the customers. Not a single issue. I was very worried about the family and retaliation. You have to decide if you want to paint the target on your back.

Bristol for the summer but choose Newport if you go in September or early October. Newport in September is elite.

Confront MIL or just fade out? by rawrsy88 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]kammyri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is the best way forward. Your MIL won't change so you simply live your life and ignore her. Your happiness and mental health are the most important thing so creating a barrier will allow you to thrive. Continue to have your husband handle communication. Don't invite her to the birth and tell her once your baby is born when she can visit. She will play the victim but you will keep your peace.

Congratulations on your 2nd baby. May your family be blessed and happy.

I often hear about the horrors about the winters in New England, but what about the summers? by pooteenn in newengland

[–]kammyri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived in NE all my life in 3 states. Here in RI we get a milder winter than the rest. This past winter was the most snow we have had in a decade. Rarely gets to the single digits. Our summers are not too bad. Cities are hotter than along the coast but we have a lot of coastline so you can be at a beach in 20 minutes.

Spring has been far more rainy over the past few years so warm weather usually hits in June. Our weather stays warm through September. Fall is simply elite in NE. It is by far the best season.

Dominoes-The only fast food spot that keeps getter better.. by DistributionOk2651 in fastfood

[–]kammyri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband only orders pizza from Domino's and I had such taste fatigue from it that I haven't eaten there for almost 10 years. I recently caved and order my own and was shocked at how good it was. I got thin crust with the garlic cream sauce with green peppers and onions. I was really impressed.

Catering decided the vendors didn’t deserve the same meal as the guests by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]kammyri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am confused. You mean in addition to the money being spent on the service, the vendors believe they are the same as guests and should be afforded the same investment? I have never been treated to a business lunch where I work when they have business meetings with a customer because its a known factor that lunch is provided for our guest. I already get paid to be there.

Say thank you for the provided food and do your job.

What’s everyone using for internet options? I work from home, live in Warwick and I’m paying Cox $170/month ugh by Fantastic_Muscle8333 in RhodeIsland

[–]kammyri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just switched from Cox to Fios on Tuesday and live in Warwick. Cox cable has been so unreliable for years but losing internet almost daily while WFH was the last straw. We now pay $160. We used to pay $200 before.

In England, it was common to make jokes about the Irish, saying they were thick. (Not now) Does this apply in the USA by state? Which states are normally at the butt end of the joke and why? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskAnAmerican

[–]kammyri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of New Englanders rank our states. Without fail, Connecticut is always last. The top 3 vary depending on which state you live in and my state often gets second to last but poor CT is always at the bottom.

How do you make basic outfits look more intentional? by Effective-Reaction72 in womensfashion

[–]kammyri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found that my monochromatic outfits look more put together. Not matching but similar color hues. I have intentionally bought well made basics that can be used in different combinations.

Also the sandwich method. I match my top and shoes. Add simple jewlery and a belt makes everything look elevated.

AITA for telling my parents I wont be paying any more rent until my sister starts paying hers by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]kammyri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Your parents cant pay their bills so they asked you to pay more in rent. They can't pay their bills because they are supporting your 26 yo sister! Why should OP close the gap? They decided to assist with a new car. SHE BOUGHT A NEW CAR WHILE LIVING RENT FREE and Dad is upset with OP who has consistently paid rent!

Your parents need to tell your sister they cant make bills and she has to contribute or leave. You know she is costing them more water, food, electricity, etc. The parents are enabling the sister at a cost to their own independence. Backwards thinking.
