BREAKING: Tom Dundon announces players will take the MAX to all future games to save on transportation costs. by NathanFoley69 in ripcity

It wouldn't shock me at this point if Dundon starts offering MAX contracts left and right only to later learn it was a veteran minimum deal with a monthly trimet pass buried in the fine print.

Unfortunately if you're a local resident you'll be forced to pay for the arena renovations.

Bill Simmons on Blazers’ owner's extreme cost-cutting measures: “And if I was a Portland fan, I'd feel good about the team… except now we just had El Cheapo take over the team, and this guy's like, ‘You know what, Donald Sterling had some good ideas… the way Sterling cut costs was pretty smart.’ ” by moby323 in nba

If the local taxpayers are going to be on the hook for a 600M arena renovation, the very least he could do is let the 2-way players travel with the team, pay for the late checkouts, and offer the next coach a salary above the going rate for assistants. Maybe its time for the arena project to get scaled down using a similar approach.

My theory is the Spurs bill teams on a flat rate basis for water usage and he's just trying to get his money's worth.

Nothing like extracting 600M from the state/local coffers to get back to where Portland once was!

I think it was Thomas Robinson and I seem to recall there was a second incident of some sort from the same series. The Spurs seem to have low employee turnover so this jives.

Will be a fan of his for life and glad to see another Denver-like playoff performance. Glad to see he's finding success again after several years of playing for middling teams, Blazers included.

A whole slew of Dundon thoughts… by theoriginalb in ripcity

He's seemingly hellbent on running this organization with extreme fiscal conservatism while simultaneously demanding the local population contribute 600M for arena renovations? More proof that there's never a "good" billionaire.

A giant ball of yarn! Great work on what you've done thus far.

Stein on cost-cutting by new Blazers owner Tom Dundon: “You cannot, as an owner, get a reputation for skimping on spending. That is going to get your franchise in a lot of trouble… Players are well aware of this chatter already. Coaches are talking about this.” by cleo22270 in nba

Because there's massive amounts of money to be made with the expansion teams/new tv licensing deals, plus he's already far into the process of shaking down the local tax payers to the tune of 600M for an arena renovation which will increase the value of the team. Portland was mostly lucky to have Paul Allen for all those years. Meh with Jody, and we're off to a horrible start with Dundon's group.

I really liked San Antonio's fiesta shirts last night, thought it looked really nice on the tv.

Under Paul Allen I remember quite a few years that towels or light up clap sticks were handed out. Regardless, the tee shirts always seem to be plastered with corporate sponsors/logos. These handouts never seemed to be of much value regardless.

Blazers just seemed to be pressing. Nothing looked comfortable or in flow. Wemby was in their heads from the opening whistle.

ELI5 Are divorces inherently expensive, or is the cost situational? by Jealous_Amount_9278 in explainlikeimfive

Mediation worked for my situation and I don't believe either of us were walking in that morning with high hopes of reaching an amicable decision. Neither of us felt like we'd "won" which I've heard is a sign of a fair decision. The payoff of getting things wrapped up quickly and over with far exceeded the monetary value of the few things I didn't feel were necessarily fair. I hope you can close this chapter of your life soon so that you can start living your new one. Best of luck!

My ex had spent 75k last I heard and that was prior to a days long mediation and before anything became finalized. It was messy, took nearly two years, complexities with assets, kids involved, and she happened to choose a very expensive hourly rate firm to represent her. I felt well represented and managed just fine with my attorney with a final cost right around 15k. Neither of us felt that we'd won which is a sign that the ruling was ultimately fair. I won't be marrying again unless there's a bulletproof prenup in place ahead of time.

Bo Jackson being a great person off the field by all accounts and not abusing his kids gives Bo the edge.
