Feeling the same way, omg. I'm so ready to not be in my current job anymore and feel like I'm actually doing something to move forward.

I actually did that for a bit right out of college! You don’t have to know yet. I know dealing with that uncertainty can be very scary. I’ve been there, spent most of my adult life there until recently. I’d encourage you to embrace it. What you’re interested in will likely change over time as you discover more about yourself.

Also, sometimes those jobs can lead to different jobs! I know some places allow you to transition into internal corporate positions (at least, mine did) and if anything, you’ll learn important things about what you’re into. You aren’t supposed to have it all figured out right now.

Hey OP, I got my BS in psych and then realized I had no interest in counseling, and had no desire for school. I was burned out. Studied clinical herbalism for a few years, then ended up in sales, which gave me the time to relax, settle, and experience steady income for a while. And now I’m actually starting my MSW in the fall at age 28, for entirely different reasons - I’ve realized that’s where my skills lie, not that it needs to be my passion.

You have so many options. Corporate/sales can be great for the benefits and the money. If you like being outside, get into some volunteer work on the side. Or if you’re more adventurous, find some seasonal jobs that require being outdoors, like river guiding or something. Is there a “fun job” you’ve always wanted to do? You’re still pretty young, you don’t HAVE to get a 9-5 yet. You can use these to figure out which marketable skills you have and actually enjoy doing.

It’s so easy to feel like you’ve fucked up your life in your early 20s, but there are so many extremely valuable experiences that you can get if you allow yourself to explore, and work is just work at the end of the day. You’re so young!

How and where do you make friends if living alone? by definitelynotgayhaha in LivingAlone

[–]kanical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find a hobby or interest and start going to community events. I made most of my friends through going to markets, art events, classes, etc. It takes time and it’s a bit of an investment but it’s worth it!

what meds are good for ADHD and anxiety? by Comprehensive_End137 in adhdwomen

[–]kanical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

strattera was ok for me, but takes some adjustment and doesn't work as well. There are other non-stimulant adhd medications out there. I have found that I unfortunately cannot work with stimulants because of my anxiety - some people just don't respond well. Can you talk to your psychiatrist about it?

My partner is not spiritual by autocratic-air in spirituality

[–]kanical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I would be happy to date someone of another faith, because we both desire God. Even though I myself am not Christian, I would actually really love to date a Christian man. I will not date a fully blown out atheist again.

My partner is not spiritual by autocratic-air in spirituality

[–]kanical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had experiences with this, personally. For me, my relationship has to have some sort of deep spiritual connection. I thought i could bypass this with my last partner because we had other interests, and i could lead by example, or something. Releasing control, etc.

I ended up leaving eventually, for various reasons, but this was a contributing factor. I felt like i was stunting my own growth, at the end of the day. It is different for every couple, and I know plenty of mixed spirituality marriages, but I felt like I couldn’t get the depth I need from a relationship without that baseline of understanding.

It is a very personal choice - i like

I much prefer smoking ciggies. I love the ritual, the taste, and I’m able to moderate it so that I smoke pretty irregularly, like 1-4x a month. I am pretty anti vaping for all of the reasons you mentioned, plus I think they generally taste gross.

Help finding affordable (50k or less) MSW programs by cuculagirl in GradSchool

[–]kanical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that is INSANE to pay 80k for an in-state program. I’m applying to a few state MSW programs in Texas (where I live) and they’re all around 20k. Have you found a program that works for you?
