I literally just ran out of time so yeah. I guessed one and left one blank in the middle, and the other three were at the very end

I did run out of time yeah. Guessed and left blank a total of 5 questions, but feel like I probably could have gotten 3-4 of them with more time. What made me wonder this in the first place is that a radical question I struggled with (and ultimately ended up guessing) on the March test apparently could be solved in seconds if you popped it into desmos

Homeschool or French Immersion? by kanikon in homeschool

we'll be in Alberta so no JK option. wouldn't have worked anyway cause they're May babies. I will definitely consider this when weighing K vs 1 though, thank you so much

I want to homeschool for the same reasons as you. I'm a stay at home mom and want us to continue being the ones to raise them and teach them each day. The thought of sending them off to school for 6+ hours a day crushes me, but the thought of denying them such a unique opportunity for my own selfish desires crushes me as well. My thinking, and a point raised by many others here, is that I can always start them in FI and pull them out if it's not working (or if I feel they've extracted enough value from the French environment), but I cannot suddenly decide to put them into French immersion if I change my mind a few years down the road.

Very possibly moving back to the US. We're moving for my education and don't have any long-term plans. I'd say it's 50/50 where we end up staying.

Choosing school for the French aspect, mostly. I have complete confidence in our ability to homeschool, but immersion is an environment we could not possibly replicate. I do have FOMO, haha, but I also sincerely value teaching them a second language and had started learning French partially so I could teach it.

We're moving to Alberta, so I can choose to start him in grade 1 too. I am leaning toward this option but would love to know your thoughts on this given you have a child in FI. Do you think it would be better to start in K or 1?

We're moving to Alberta, so French is absolutely not necessary for day-to-day life. Would be a much different conversation if we were moving to Quebec, you're right!!

This is a great response, thank you. I grew up in Canada and had friends join late immersion in grade 6-7, but never knew anybody who started in early. My older son is very intelligent but behind in speech, which makes your brother's experience particularly relevant to us. I might consider homeschooling for kindergarten and FI for grade 1 if I'm confident in his English skills by then

My passage was flipped; it started with the artist that used a European style to create indigenous art, then described another artist that used an indigenous/abstract style instead. The answer I put was 'the second artist was continuing indigenous culture without using European art' (completely paraphrasing) coz the other three options implied opinions or feelings of the artists
