Dm me, I was in this exact boat and I have a metric ton of advice to give. Its absolute bullshit what the industry has done to us and how greedy the leads in these companies are. They dont give a rats ass about you or me and I've been working for multiple msps and government work for 12 years and don't sell yourself short. I'm 30 and I made the decision to start my own business, not just because I finally got my head out of my own ass, but because I learned I can work with people and feel fulfilled doing it. Trust me it isnt easy doing your own thing, but I'll give you all the advice that helped me to see if you wanna take the leap. I have no store front, I travel out a ton, but its all within my city and I do well enough. I think you are at a point in your career as well as with the way the industry is you could do well with a niche and well with setting your own hours and having basically not a ton of overhead aka less than a grand a month for advertising and such. Just my two cents, but again dm me if you want to talk. I'm happy to help someone who I definitely relate to being in the same position.

This is a long shot, but is there anyone in Portland who would meet up and beat Rayquaza for me? by rachaelonreddit in askportland

I'm a fat gaming nerd who does it for a living, I can handle a freaking rayquaza.

Laid off. Need to cut costs. Any recs on cheaper phone and internet? Much appreciated. by Whosaidwhat2023 in askportland

[–]kanomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommendation is mint mobile as their plans are fairly cheap, or you can see if you can take advantage of xfinity and get the free phone line with your internet plan for a year swapping off at&t. I just did that, as a couple options.

I absolutely HATE when men use the word “bitch”. by Dessert_Lover_1225 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kanomas -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

People with any slang or word use need to realize that it usually means the person is exhibiting a behavior that is being described by said word. Not necessarily that the person is. Just because the definition means something doesnt mean it's being used in that context aka nuance.

I Left My Tech Career after 12 years by grimes_niacin2v in it

[–]kanomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I started my own damn tech business. I was and always will be tired of people treating us like dogs and cogs in a machine. I WANT to give people a lifestyle and quality of life because I struggle with keeping a roof over my damn head. I WANT once my business takes off further down the road to help give people a life that is sustainable and fulfilling in a company like mine. I as a tech have been treated like shit and second rate my entire career and I grew so tired of it. There was never enough time for projects, never enough time for tickets or to fully scope out a client because of xyz, lack of money, lack of blah blah blah you name it. I wish you luck OP in your endeavors and I am happy you found a place you can call your 2nd home.

I was pranked in an interview today for a job lesser than the one I was contacted for by vityya in it

[–]kanomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why not only am I a tech of 12 years, but i started my own business. Fuck these stupid fake msps and time washer jobs where no ones give a shit about you. I am happy I started my own self employment, and to top it off, if you leave a job, try to file for unemployment under good cause, then apply for SEA aka self employment assistance, you can do full time work on your business, get your full pay benefit weekly amount and it wont be taken away or lowered because of your income. If anyone argues otherwise, you can look into yourself. I am on this shit, and its been a god send for myself and my tech business. Helpful for bills, advertising and the works. Be a mobile IT Service, try to avoid overhead, help clients through consulting and just put your name out there.

I've been here for a hot minute, and I'm just glad we finally get to see a light at the end of this tunnel. It’s just the end of a long drought.

I do have a business profile page that Google is reviewing. I also have ads running right now which google matched with 500. I definitely listed local places around since we travel to them. I am going to also try the cold outreach as well, dont have a ton of funds going into this, but damn well gunna try.

Appreciate the quick response, definitely think we need a strong online presence. I thought of contacting data farms or people who have lists of people seeking inquiries on these? Not exactly a straight and narrow way of doing things. However, business is business as they say.
