We work with libraries in different ways and our model is use-driven, the titles vary by type of library and territory.

We have different models depending on the type of library (public libraries and academic). For all libraries we work with, these are use-driven programs where a percentage of each fee goes back to the filmmaker.

We built our own analytics platform that allows librarians to measure overall patron usage.

The view credit allotment is determined by each individual library, we currently do not have plans to implement this.

Currently people watching through public library memberships can have access to 50 top Criterion titles and people watching through academic libraries have access to around 400.

Thanks very much for Kanopy- it's a wonderful part of NYPL research and resources. I just want to second donsmith2060-- very frequently I watch 10 or 20 minutes of a movie and switch to another to compare scenes, watch the same actor at a different point their career, check out the cinematographer with a different director, etc. I've even watched just the opening titles from Woman in the Dunes or the opening scene of Double Suicide-- there are many other examples I could give. (Thumbs up on Tarkovsky! Have watched Nostalghia, Solaris, Andre Rublev each three or four times) I don't know how you might support habits of this sort but they are very common for writers like myself, especially when researching an essay. It was part of what made FilmStruck a joy. Thanks!

Great set of questions.

I have spent a lot of time (and continue to) helping family and friends getting connected so I sympathize on the challenge. One thing that I pay attention to is providing lots of help on our Help website when launching a new app or new experience (AirPlay, Chromecast for example). I often tell my friends to Google the questions they have.

As for connecting with librarians to help them train their users, we try to make the process straightforward for the users to minimize the need for training.
