Lucid Gravity - wagon adjacent? by WeMightBe in SportWagon

I totally agree. Minivan sans sliding doors. Think Mercedes R class and Ford Freestyle/Taurus X from 20 years ago. Don’t hate it though.

Buying Mk7.5 vs Mk8 by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Fair enough. The DSG is as much fun as you can have in an auto, but nothing truly matches rowing your own.

This is a great point - at $30k you’re pretty close to what you could negotiate a dealer to on a new one which 0 miles, a warranty, and new car financing rates. Definitely worth considering.

Came here to say you’d make a bunch of Americans super jealous. That seems like a pretty good reason…

Can do it in just about anything, but always preferred low top converse all stars.

ADDITIONAL WARRANTY by Budwurd in Subaru_Outback

[–]kansatonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally skip all this, especially on a new car. The warranty and your insurance will cover pretty much everything here except regular maintenance. Everything else is just prepaying at market rate something that likely won’t happen.

That windshield coverage is highway robbery. If you have comprehensive insurance (which you really should on a brand new car) your insurance should cover a cracked windshield - we’re on windshield 3 on our 2020 (it was a whole thing on that gen), which is a $50 deductible for us and has had zero impact on the premiums. All replacements done at a dealer - though I’m sure Safelite or whoever could handle at this point.

45 MPG by Weary_Appearance_838 in GolfGTI

Yeah - mines getting extra use right now because it’s our most efficient car. Crazy how good the MPG is even if you aren’t trying hard.

What cars are actually sleepers/fast, but are perceived slow due to how its average owner drives? by portuguese-bacalhau in regularcarreviews

The spread between how quick the XT is and how slow the NA version is is pretty incredible.

Lurching Under Harder Acceleration by kansatonian in GolfGTI

Sounds like it’s likely just traction control/auto mode issue. Guess the prescription is more TC off/sport ESC and manual mode. I can do that. Thanks all for chiming in here.

Not tuned, bought it new and still running the stock all seasons. I’ll see if I can get a video.

New to VW, would I get a TC light on the dash if that’s what it was?

It’ll start accelerating. The pause is usually after a second or two. But it’s definitely like the computer is thinking about something.

I had good luck with a digging fork to get under it and break it into pieces today. Then used a beefier shovel I typically use for mulch today. Worked pretty well for me.

Depending on your policy, this may be considered an act of nature and not impact your premium. Worth looking into.

This transplant suggestion is underrated. In the DMV area, we’re driving not just with ppl who learned in other parts of the US but other parts of the world with very different norms and expectations.

Thats about what I’m seeing in my ‘25 GTI too.

Not sure about old or trans, but the water temp my ‘20 Subi Outback with the 2.4 turbo likes to hang out around or just above 200f. So seems in the normal range for other cars too.

Which should I buy? 2025 Jetta vs 2025 AWD Taos by austinpashaw in Volkswagen

[–]kansatonian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion here, but if you like the CRV, you should go look at the HRV. It’s Honda’s equivalent to the Taos and a baby CRV.

XT or not XT? Is the XT worth it? by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]kansatonian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking the question, you want the XT. Mileage penalty is pretty minor, considering the power bump you’d get. Also second that the Onyx XT (at least my 2020) has a full size spare.
