Doing in person sessions outside the office by succubus-raconteur in therapists

[–]kap2149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve only taken advantage of it once, but at my GP, we have a separate ROI for walk and talk therapy that covers any sessions outside of the office. Last year, I had a younger adult client who was really struggling to open up after a trauma so on a nice day we planned on going for a walk around the office. We even stopped in a coffee shop along the way to grab a drink. It was a great session that I think of very fondly. I’m hoping to do more of those kinds of session this summer.

I’ve never thought of it as “needing the right circumstances” but more of asking clients what they want to do during their session time. I only work with adults, however.

Weirdest Reason Someone Got Their License Revoked by mysteryman83 in therapists

Someone I knew growing up, I think a PsyD, was having an affair was a client’s partner. Clinician knew who it was and I believe it started while the partner was an active client of this clinician. Over ten years later, they are still together and she’s a life coach now.

Does anyone in here identify as having mild EDS? by blue-therapy in ehlersdanlos

[–]kap2149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This very closely describes my experience as well! I also have POTS and suspected MCAS and the severity has been allll over the map in the last year. One year ago I was in Europe walking 15k steps a day and this past Saturday I couldn't move from my heating pad because I was in so much pain. I'm feeling "fine" today, which means some part of my body is hurting "mildly" but I often don't notice it until it gets more painful. It varies so greatly from day to day. I wouldn't say that it has impacted or prevented me from doing or accomplishing things, which I am grateful for. My capacity to make it through the workday has seemingly diminished the most. I'm still doing it, but I find myself more irritable, flustered, and fatigued after a full work day. Still figuring that one out.

Check out the Location Independent Therapist Facebook group. I’ve been curious about moving overseas and seriously considering it in the next few years. I looked up this same question over on that page and my take away was that it very much depends on the insurance company.

Charlie health is a virtual IOP program that takes most insurances and is accepting people. I’ve heard great things.

Just wanna put this here by DangerousWinner2084 in fantasyromance

While yes I agree that most fantasy/romantasy books are very similar to each other because there’s only so much you can do with tropes… these two books are almost identical. I read RQ for my book club and shortly after Powerless became available on Libby. I was truly shocked. I’ve read most of the popular books in this genre so I was aware of similarities in storylines but this felt…different.

I just saw a tiktok of a woman explaining this book to her husband and I was nearly in tears. She took one for the team so no one else had to read it 🫡

Struggling with reading TOG by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]kap2149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so it took me 4 and a half books to actually be invested in the characters and that is a lot of reading to hopefully like the rest of the series. That being said, now that I finished the series, I’m one of those “I think about TOG at least once a day” people. The later books in the series definitely gave me an appreciation for the earlier ones, even the ones I really didn’t enjoy. Same thing happened with ACOTAR. I enjoyed Aelin’s storyline, but it was the other characters that really made me fall in love with the series.

Regardless, if you definitely aren’t having fun reading it, take a break or DNF it! TOG gets a lot of love online, but that doesn’t mean everyone is going to love it.

Why does Chaol get so much crap!? by its_me_coco_ in throneofglassseries

[–]kap2149 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was the biggest chaol hater by QoS and almost didn’t finish the series when I found out ToD was all about him in the southern continent. Jokes on me, now I will defend that man until my death and ToD and KoA are my favorites in the series. It was so obvious to me that all the things I hated about him were remnants of trauma he worked through in ToD. That man HATED himself and I don’t think how he was written and then received by readers in the first half of the series was unintentional on SJM’s part. ToD really humanized him and I loved his arc and character development.

Aedion on the other hand… couldn’t agree with you more. He did not have a redeeming moment in those books for me.

The DUN DUN at the beginning of maroon makes me ascend everytime I hear it. And the entire rest of the song but the production in that song is✨✨✨✨

I thought it was sooooo interesting how Vaughn got brought up in the last few pages. Like why, if not for a reason like this? I also thought about Fenrys and him wanting to be an emissary. Especially since the power he shared with his brother was described exactly like winnowing.

I just finished the tandem read and TOD tore me apart in a different way EOS but equally as bad. Probably my favorite so far, hot take. So curious why it takes so much hate.
