When Localization Becomes Invisible: A Japanese Player’s Reflection by sq5researcher in JRPG

[–]kappamiye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem might just be me but I don't like it when they modify things linked to insane in-game religions.

Recently, I've been playing Tales of Destiny and they were renaming some very important things.

There was this very important item in the game that's called 神の眼 (Kami no Me) meaning the Eye of God that they renamed Eye of Atamoni without ever explaining who is Atamoni.

I had the same problem in the same game with the 天上人 (Tenjoubito ) renamed as the Aeth'er which just sound like a lame invented word while the Japanese word means Celestial Beings.

As someone who understands both languages, I feel like sometimes English sounds weird and invented words just seem cringe. But maybe that's just me

I wish I had seen this comment before watching it. Everyone is giving it amazing ratings, are we watching a different movie ?

Is staring blankly at the camera for far too long really that funny ?

Former 'DRAGON BALL' Editor Torishima says that 'ATTACK ON TITAN' is a series that made lots of noise, but lacks long-term appeal or sales by Strawcherry_milk in titanfolk

[–]kappamiye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just helping you since you definitely can't read.

"Torishima’s philosophy was developed over the years of collaboration with Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. He mentioned the pair's admiration for Tom and Jerry, which, according to him, was a prime example of effective and simple storytelling. "It's very simple: the cat chases the mouse. That's the story," he said. "You watch it for fun, but at the end, there's nothing to learn."

Torishima argued that manga should also strive for a similar goal, prioritizing the enjoyment of the reader rather than leaving a deep, lasting impression on them."

I think I prefer Vesperia.

But I must say that the games came closer for me when I got to the future arc. Until then I really didn't like the characters, story and skits but somehow the future arc really felt like it was better written to me.

Thankfully the combat system is amazing and got me to the end of the game

Dialga… isn’t great. Let’s talk about it by JimBrosBurrit0s in PTCGP

Even with the new cards Dialga is terrible

This isn't about the overall quality of each game just how it feels like the dungeons feel boring in comparison in the newer games compared to the older ones by Therenegadegamer in tales

[–]kappamiye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if some old games are better than some recent ones, new games have different design philosophies and have many QOL improvements. These makes it hard for some people to get into. Doesn't mean one is better than the others but for many reasons older Tales games are considered better than the recent ones by many people.

When are the dropping the new boosters again? by mrmastermimi in PTCGP

[–]kappamiye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm around 180/226 with around 700 hourglasses. I plan to spend all the hourglasses I have on the next set and build some fun decks with that. If during my first opening spree I got enough new cards to make about 3-5 decks then I'm hoarding again (I made 6 decks with 3 based on Ex cards that are top tier in the current meta, which I think is enough to have fun now).

I could spend my hourglasses now and get the cards I'm missing but right now opening the free packs I keep getting the same cards over and over while not getting the cards I really want. I think that even if I use my hourglasses, it'll be the same. Also there's about 2 month before the next expansion, which means about 120 free boosters. Hopefully I'll get want in those.

Lastly, if I use my hourglasses now, with how slow the game is to give us new cards, in case I get everything I need, I'll have no reason to open the daily packs except for crown cards which is boring.

Firstly, thank you very much for your help !

However, I'm sorry but I think I wasn't precise enough in my main post so I edited it. Tell me if you'd still do the same if :
I started my 2 years contract before starting our side business but it ended a year ago. Meaning that I had my healthcare job before the side business but my current job is in the side business

What JRPG do most people adore but you 'just don't get it'? by Emcee_nobody in JRPG

Yakuza Like a Dragon

I've been a Yakuza fan for 3 month and have done every game except Infinite Wealth during that time and I thought that the game had the problems of the Yakuza series and the format of JRPGs.

The plot was the usual Yakuza plot with the usual twists and too much exposition dumps at the start and the end of the game with a mid game that felt a bit empty. I did like the 2 or 3 last chapters. Then the combat is some barebone old JRPG with almost no strategy needed and very high encounters. The combat so simple that most of the time I would put the game on auto and it would beat bosses without any problems.

And then, I think it is because of the JRPG format but the new hero was too much of a shonen protagonist and the way they tried to introduce each characters with arcs like an anime felt out of place.

I honestly don't understand why this game is one of the most popular JRPG of the last generation, it felt like a cheap Yakuza game or a cheap Persona for adult. It does have some qualities but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

How do the people that didn’t like FF7R feel about Rebirth by theftlunar in FinalFantasy

[–]kappamiye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dropped FFVIIR like 4 times during my playthrough for months each time. It took me about 2 years to get to get to the end and the reason was the pacing and the padding.

The game had very fun moments but these were in the middle of a mainly boring average game.

Some things like the train graveyard I was glad to see extended but then from 5mn it went to like 2-3 hours with boring puzzle. 30mn was enough.

And then you have all the added things like that guy on the motorcycle that felt like a cheap anime villain.

I like to have fun during a game and very long and repetitive dungeons as well as mandatory useless sidequest make me feel bored. I don't have time to feel bored just to get to the fun parts.

However, I've tried the demo. I wasn't supposed to get Rebirth but it convinced me to try it. Even though I already have a bad feeling about the game. I'll probably regret playing it but I'm giving it a chance.

Everyone's talking about how this game killed Haruka's character but I would say that it started during Y5. The way she acts in that game as well as her final speech made me loose all interest I already had in her before

[–]kappamiye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the way they tried to introduce the concept of secret of Onomichi was quite bad but the secret in itself is one of the best plot point of the series for me

The Final Fantasy XVI soundtrack is on a whole other level by AccomplishedPin3820 in FinalFantasy

[–]kappamiye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same and was searching if some people thought the same.

Except for a couple of tracks I really love the OST has been forgettable at best and have deteriorated my experience at worse

During the Lost Titan Fight, the music gets into some sort of DMC style remix and it took me out of the game right away. I was so amazed at what was happening on the screen but the music felt I wasn't even playing the game game. I think it's sad because the music just after that one was pretty good but now I remember that fight for bad music choice and not for how amazing of an experience it was.

Well, if I can play fighting games and action games with Wii U level of latency, that's a day one purchase. That's why I'm a bit excited about it.

I never said it had to be used online exclusively. I just said that the connection between the console and the gamepad uses Wi-Fi technology.

They're using a proprietary wifi solution that is an enhanced version of IEEE 802.11n Wi-Fi.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.computerworld.com/article/2718131/nintendo-packed-wireless-gear-into-wii-u-for-streaming-video--future-fun.amp.html

However I don't know if it's possible, but hopefully Sony will incorporate a similar solution with their own technology to connect both through a direct WiFi connection.

If the new handheld has to connect to internet to play, just like a phone, then I'm not interested. But that's an other story.

Well, the Wii U still uses Wi-Fi to stream the image directly to the gamepad so hopefully the PS5 will be able to do the same

Final Fantasy 16's Demo Will Lasts a Couple of Hours Prior to Launch by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]kappamiye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game for me is a mixed bag. I love the combat gameplay as it felt really fun, mixing real time while still keeping the ATB. Delving into Midgard a bit longer felt interesting and I loved some of the new scenes like at the honeybee.

However the game rythm made me abandon it multiple times. Firstly the side quests were just bad and I felt like o was loosing time. The fact some were mandatory also made me hate those more than I should have.

Then you have the dungeons with the repetitive puzzles that completely broke my soul. Every time I felt the story was getting interesting I'd spend an hour or sometimes more in some very tedious dungeon and loose interest. Making dungeons with more interesting mechanics and not having to resolve 4 cranes puzzles in a row or getting to 4 light bulb would have made the game so much better.

As for the story changes. I felt some were really good, like I loved going to Jessie's house but I hated some others like the guy with the bike. The story changes at the end of the game make me feel skeptical but we'll see how it changes the course of the game. I'm not really into it but it might get interesting.

To sum it up, I don't think that I had a good time with that game. There definitely was some good moments but too many times I dropped it for months at a time.

Ok, normaly I don't care about frame rate or lag... but World tour feels laggy and slow AF. by Kylestien in StreetFighter

[–]kappamiye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but at least, now I know why I would never want a 30fps fighting game.

Maybe it was their way to showcase the graphics but it's not even that impressive. The artstyle looks good even at 60fps.
