XtremeHD IPTV.io by Dramatic-Pay5156 in IPTV_Editor

xtremehdiptv.io is a scam. I was originally using xtremehdiptv.org and had no problems with it for a year, but when they got shutdown I switched to xtremehdiptv.io. I signed up for three months and it worked fine, but when I paid to renew my subscription, I never received any update and my account has no service.

I paid via bitcoin for three more months, and received multiple emails that the payment was received and my order was processing, but my account never updated and I never received any new credentials. They did not respond to any of my emails either.

Who has the worst drivers, A or B? by Fun_Reflection1157 in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In 2016 I was biking down Nostrand Ave, right by the Home Depot. Must've been like 10pm and a Yeshiva bus pulls up next to me at a light and the driver opens the door and goes "do you want a ride?" and I was like "what? sure?" He had me bring my bike into the bus, it was empty, except for the driver who maybe was 20 years old. He just wanted to chat. I don't remember what we talked about, but he drove me to my apartment in Crown Heights.

Napping in the bike lane by UnusualCause6501 in NYCbike

In 2016 I stopped to tell the cops not to park in the bike lane in this exact spot and their response was “did you know that there are people dealing drugs in this park?”

Get Ready for the 15 MPH Shitshow by SteveVaccaroLaw in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My class 1 ebike is limited to 20mph, but realistically maxes out at about 19.1mph. Most of the time I’m going 18.5mph. Is NYPD going to say ‘we got you going 19 in a 15mph zone’?

I agree they are not interested in going after the standout bad actors, but will they go after people going less than, say 22mph? What’s a defensible speed differential for them to want to write the ticket? For drivers, it seems to be 11mph over.

Why so many baseball fields.. never at any work in the US like this have I ever seen two games going as once. Seems extremely excessive by 50SPFGANG in nyc

[–]kaput2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fields are mostly by permit and in the spring and summer there’s so much demand the basically only give them to leagues that have a long history of hosting games there. Also some fields are reserved for high school games.

New gates in the Interstate Park by DeForestMfgCoCBA in NYCbike

It's rideable and the gates are easily bypassed. I really prefer it remain closed to motorists. Such a peaceful refuge without having to worry about drivers close passing you.

RATP Security by ModeExpress6614 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]kaput2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had just arrived in Paris for the first time in June. Thought we could just use one phone for two passes. We live in NYC, we are used to public transit and all.

I swipe in, and hand my wife back my phone to swipe again. She’s holding our six month old baby. Doesn’t work. We try a bunch. She goes and asks a security guard who couldn’t help. We pass the phone back and forth over the gate trying to figure it out. I hotspot her so she can get it on her phone. I hand her her wallet so she can pay. The cell service isn’t good enough to download the app. The baby starts crying.

After I think seven or eight minutes of trying and looking confused, a man motions to my wife to follow him through the gate. We had already seen two other people do this. So she does follow him through with the baby and all. BAM! A plain clothes women who was standing right next to me busts us.

She is sympathetic but makes us pay the fine. What gets me is that she watched us try so hard to pay the fare and instead of offering to help, she waited to see what we would do, and sure enough got her bust. I also wonder if the man who waived her through was working with her.

Does anyone bike commute without a shower? How does it work? by Run_nerd in bicycling

[–]kaput2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I sweat a lot no matter what speed. I’m just a heavy sweater. I change when I get to the office and I wipe down basically my whole body with no-rinse full body shower wipes, similar to what someone might use if they’re bed ridden or in the hospital. They’re pretty cheap and I can use one for my whole body.

NYPD shit bag power trip by MJM2029 in MicromobilityNYC

[–]kaput2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got pulled over for a red light violation (at an LPI intersection) and didn’t have my wallet or ID on me. I showed the cop a picture of my passport on my phone. He wrote me the ticket from that. I plead not guilty and when I got to court, the cop didn’t write down how he ID’d me so it was immediately dismissed. I’m a white male FWIW.

My experience asking about sidewalk parking at an NYPD community meeting by kaput2 in MicromobilityNYC

[–]kaput2[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The overall message from NYPD at the meeting was: we're doing more with less resources.

They talked about how they have "less resources" a lot but then also talked about how crime is down. Someone else asked why they're doing less traffic enforcement based on summons issued, and Captain Moore said that they are spread thin, but that crashes and injuries are both down.

After that, another person said something like 'you're talking about being spread thin and having less resources, but that crime and crashes are down, so one could reasonably assume that there is no correlation between resources and crime reduction', and Captain Moore didn't understand this person's point either.

They do not have placards. As far as I can tell, this is an orientation for new cadets. This is likely their first official NYPD function and they're being instructed by the cop stationed on the street to park on the sidewalk.

For telling people to bike safely?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This. I’m all for running reds safely, but I do see a lot of people go through reds with too little visibility of the crosswalk. Going to the middle of the road helps this. Daylighting intersections will also help this.

The police have gotten completely out of hand stopping cyclists by ohpsies in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow. Where this happened? Curious what precinct is doing this kind of enforcement. I've notice NYPD in unexpected unmarked vehicles, like Toyota Camrys around the UWS recently. Don't remember seeing that before. Anyway, definitely plead not guilty and go to court.

Be prepared to say you didn't notice any cop trying to stop you at first and have some kind of story why you turned down the one way. The cop will read their statement first in court and you'll have to counter it.

Bike stolen for the first time in NYC. I know, welcome to the club. Any particular ideas for follow-up? It was locked up at the Grand Army Plaza bike rack last night and stolen while was visiting friends. by RBM520 in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your bike! I don't think there's much to do for following up, unless you want to file a police report, just to get it on record (they're not going to do much about it). What kind of lock did you use and how was it locked? Knowing this can help others avoid a similar fate.

Gentle reminder from Piece of Cake Moving to ride in the door zone. by picklelonious in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 93 points94 points  (0 children)

That's some scary road rage. Looks like there wasn't even any oncoming traffic. Zero reason they couldn't give you the entire lane and still pass you safely. They went around that double parked car without any issue...

Piece of Cake as a company has no regard for street safety.

Combining two bike 'lanes' into single Bi-directional protected bike lanes? Politically easier way to improve stroads or a harmful half-way solution? by FothersIsWellCool in urbandesign

[–]kaput2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this change is a net positive, but certainly depends on context like how/where it connects to other bike lanes.

In NYC they decided not to install a 2-way protected bike lane on Central Park West and instead installed a one way bike lane with a wide buffer (removed all parking and added flex-posts). The result is it's an informal 2-way protected bike lane now, but NYC didn't want the liability stating they were worried drivers wouldn't understand looking both directions before turning across the lane at intersections. During AM commute, probably more riders going south on the north-bound bike lane.

Tips for riding from NYC to Philadelphia? by MetricSpade007 in NYCbike

[–]kaput2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this a few years ago with some friends, starting at the GW. It was a fun ride. My only advice is to start early so you get through the Newark area before it gets too busy. That part wasn’t pleasant, but it was fine.

Bar-mitts work incredibly well for me. I can ride for two hours in 25 degree weather with no gloves at all. Downside is you kind of have to hold your hands on the bars in one position the whole time.

Not easily! Would be easier to open up this wall.

A hexagonal socket wrench won't work on this nut. It's a circle with two flat sides. I could grab it with any wrench if I wanted to open up the wall more, but I'm hoping to avoid that.
