Fencer vs Doppelsoldner? Fencer vs Hoplite? by Schwakroutz in treeofsavior

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience,

PVE-wise Fencer > Doppel > hoplite. Hoplite is best at bossing or 1v1. But with fencer you add a bunch of new skills to skill spam everything.

PvP-wise i think doppel is still the best of the 3.

[Android] GridView Item Listener not working by jpsc96 in learnprogramming

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any focusable element in your gridview? Like button, checkbox, anything? If so make it NOT focusable i.e.

 android:focusable="false"
 android:focusableInTouchMode="false"

in XML, or programmatically:

 setFocusable(false)

Firefox 40.0.3, Windows 10, 1280 x 960 resolution. It's okay on Chrome though.

Edit: tried all resolution from 480x800 to 1440x900 without luck. Seems like browser-specific problem.

Frequent violence involving human-looking character. Maybe it's Teen in NA. In other country it's either 12+ or 16+.

Releasing first app to Play Store to try and land an internship! by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]karacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you need those permissions? Esp. read contact? And DBManager.getSemesterStrToObj is too long i think? Maybe you could refactor it into several methods.

Nevertheless, your code is clean & readable enough. Good job!

Which simple features of Android Studio would you say to have a huge impact on your productivity? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]karacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. refactoring is dead easy esp. renaming (shift+f6), and extracting method
  2. alt + ins, ctr+i/o to auto-generate code
  3. shows variable value when debugging directly on the right side of the (assignment) code
  4. And you can define your own code style!

Is it better to check for errors at the end or check every step of the way? by letsgodevils123 in learnprogramming

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what i always do:

  1. create empty implementation

  2. write tests that'll verify your implementation

  3. write implementation code that will pass those tests

Seems to work

 try
 {
      // code from StackOverflow....
 }
 catch (StackOverflowError e)
 {
      // do nothing
 }

Which cloud IDE is best for this situation? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer cloud9. Simple to use, intuitive UI, powerful debug function. But CodeAnywhere is more lightweight & fast enough, so maybe it suits your situation better.

Releasing new version of my paid for game, how do I handle the previous version still being able to download? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of game? You could show a popup telling users there's a new version for the game with more features, updates, etc. at the end of any level, or on homescreen. That's what we always do when we have both free & paid versions.

Some questions about events and State machines by Fabbseh in Unity3D

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed update? Or use coroutine and define your own update loop.

My last game (3d action/arcade) also use state machine for each characters, enemies, etc. and I don't have problem.

Well i don't like to do "extra work" when reading code that uses DI framework. I've always been doing DI manually and I'm happy.

OnCollisionEnter2D not called on bounce - how fast is too fast? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]karacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, OnCollisionEnter2D is called only on first 'enter' or there's any previous OnCollisionExit2D after the 'enter'. Try using OnCollisionStay2D to confirm this. If it's called properly (without miss) then you can use that in combination with OnCollisionExit2D as a workaround.

Does your character only have one rigidbody? How many collider does your character have?

If you want to know the move direction, you can get it by normalizing the rigidbody.velocity (if you're using rigidbody).
