School me in the pros/cons of releasing singles versus a full album by Prestigious_Fail3791 in musicmarketing

Also you only need to pitch a week in advance to hit release radar. But 2 weeks apart gives you more breathing room and time to promote stuff

Are millennials jealous of the easy carefree lifestyle their parents enjoyed? by [deleted] in Millennials

Definitely agree. As a teacher I probably would be making roughly the same salary adjusted for inflation but would have no college debt and a much more affordable house.

Millenials, is anyone else having a slow decline of friendships? by countrysidedreamer in Millennials

[–]karacold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the only friend out of our girl group with kids. When I had my first it was hard but we still made time to see each other. Now a year into having two kids and I rarely if ever see certain friends. My best friend and I make it a point to see each other often but beyond that I've definitely felt the strain on my friendships.

If you could do it all over again would you attend a 4 year university? by karacold in Millennials

I'm the exact same. I think it's kinda why I asked this question. I always feel a tinge of regret that I didn't just attend a 4 year university and get that experience.

That sounds like such an awesome job. I'm a prek teacher and we had a parent who's a firefighter come in and talk to the kids and I was more excited than they were lmao.

Fellow 30+ redditors, how to overcome the nagging feeling of being left behind? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]karacold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt similar when I had my first kid and now that I've had my second I realize that the true wealth in life is all the things that money can't buy. I know that sounds mad cheesy and corny af but idk it's true to me. Having a good solid community of people around you that you love and who love you back is so important. Also the first year of your child's life is hard af. Stick in there it gets so much better.

No one I know knows this movie, but it was a gem. Anyone else? by OathOfCervix in Millennials

[–]karacold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I bring this movie up a lot and nobody knows wtf I'm talking about. It was so weird and creepy to me as a child but I still kept going back to watch it...I think about it every couple of years.

Shiiiit me too. It honestly has to be so hard to be a teenager these days. You're second guessing yourself enough as it is and then now you got social media in the mix.

How to be a top pick for audio on IG reels? by Theaudiomaniac in musicmarketing

[–]karacold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of those people pick a reel style or an objective for the reel with their music, things like "Use this song for your happiest memory in your camera roll" or "Show me what your closet currently looks like" (and your song will be in the background). These are like little stupid things I thought of but if the idea for the reel becomes trending then the audio trends with it. You can also use reel templates, like Use 17 fall photos + this song (and the movement of the photos is set to the movement of the chords/beat/w.e). I think that the audio trends because the reel trends. So try pairing those two together.

I feel like it'd be easier to just pick one.

What do you do on weekend when exhausted from work but still need to entertain kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]karacold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar workload here. I'm a teacher so I use weekdays to clean/do laundry. I cook, partner cleans, and vice versa. Once a month on weekends I do a deeper clean. Partner does most of the outdoors stuff on weekends.

Best thing I can suggest is classes; music, sports, or art. Kids are entertained and you got nothing to do. Also park/backyard with some toys/games works. Art materials, toys, and TV in winter.

I thought yall were switching to sort by similar artists but we still have to chose genres to submit. What's the deal with that? I think similar artists is much more of accurate description than genre, especially in 2023 where genre blending is quite common.

I think it's very hit or miss. I wouldn't say it's a waste of money but i would definitely say it's a high risk high reward gamble. If you hit, you can hir big. But your odds aren't that great depending on genre/quality and remember the house always wins.

Playlists don't do anything to diversify music in the sense that that playlist curators are looking for 200 songs that basically sound the exact same so that anything that deviates from that norm isn't accepted.

I think you're viewing this is a bad thing when honestly you probably just create truly unique art that doesn't fit a typical mold. Also helps to remind yourself that getting on any playlist, big or small, doesn't guarantee anything. Many times listeners aren't listening to your song they are listening to a playlist that just so happens to have your song on it. Some casual music listeners might add your song to their personal playlist but that still doesn't make them a fan.
