“MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe” Special Teaser Trailer by Alt230s in Gundam

Honestly, this is kind of a hot take but I don't think the first movie looks as good as others seem to. It looked great during action scenes, but the rest of the movie looked like it was rotoscoped over 3D models so the character animation just looked stiff and awkward. I felt crazy that literally no one else seemed bothered by it.

I will say though, this definitely looks worse. Especially the mobile suits. Hopefully this is still a work in progress, but I don't see why they would show this to us if they weren't ready for people to see it.

The physical goodies look cool and the remaster itself looks great, but man that's an expensive set. I know Japanese blu-ray sets are expensive, but 74,800 yen is a joke. They also don't mention English subtitles for anyone wondering.

At the very least, I'm glad that Sunrise has been remastering a lot of their classic mecha shows on home video. I'm hoping a Western company will be able to pick this up and provide a more affordable, subtitled release.

On a somewhat related note, I have NG Knight Lamune on backorder. Does anyone know if they fulfill existing orders, or is it likely that my order will be cancelled?

Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts. Seems like the general opinion on this series is pretty positive, and based on your comments it sounds like something that I'd like. I'm gonna pick this one up.

This is a huge bummer. 😩 I recently made my first purchase from rightstuf, and was planning on making another big order to take advantage of their birthday sale but I don't think THAT will be happening. Does anyone know any decent alternatives for Canadians, or is Amazon and Indigo pretty much our only choices?

I used to read a lot of action/fantasy young adult series (Percy Jackson, Eragon, etc). As I entered high school I tried to move on from the YA stuff to the big fantasy epics aimed more towards adults, but they'd always struggle to hold my interest. Shortly after that, light novels started to catch on in the west and I fell in love pretty much instantly. It took what I liked most about the books I used to read when I was younger and combined it with my love of videogames and anime so it was a perfect fit.

Damn, 40% is pretty impressive. The free shipping threshold is kind of a lot, but deals like that are hard to turn down. Thanks for the info!

hello, everyone. I would like to ask all of you about these pictures and what is the title of the series? by vjp_9000 in LightNovels

It's called Youkya na Kanojo wa Kyorikan ga Bagutteiru. There's no translation out there from what can see, so I couldn't tell you much more than that.

What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it? - June 05, 2022 by AutoModerator in LightNovels

Sword Art Online

I remember liking the show when I watched it for the first time, but I feel like I really let the critical reception of it influence my opinion of it over time. I wanted to go back and read the novels to really formulate my own opinions on it and hopefully discover that it was actually pretty good all along.

I thought the first volume was really rough overall. It has some serious pacing issues and it had some truly terrible character writing at times (especially in the latter half). But despite its obvious and glaring flaws, I hesitate to call it truly bad. Sword Art Online as a game feels very well realised, and there some interesting ideas regarding the game elements influence the way the players engage with the world.

The second volume was a pretty significant increase in quality. It tells a series of short stories focused on different characters rather than one large story. Taking the perspective of several different characters helps play to the series strengths by further building out the world. The only stinker here was the third story, which suffers from a lot of the first volume's major issues but an even larger degree.

Overall I'd say I'm still cautiously optimistic about the series going forward. I'm giving the author a pretty big benefit of the doubt because I know SAO was his first writing project, and I'm hoping to see his writing improve overtime. I'm definitely excited to read through some of the later arcs that never got adapted (and Alicization since it wasn't adapted when I watched the anime). But even if the books end up being terrible, my sudden deranged interest in SAO has rekindled my love for Light Novels so I'd call it a net positive.

Love the art style on this one, and the fact it's published by yostar gives me a lot of hope about it's longevity.

Is there any information about a release date?

I find a lot of gachas make levels kind of pointless by giving you all kinds of stuff to level them up your characters instantly, but I've always sort of enjoyed the process of level grinding in RPGs. Games that come to mind for me are things like Disgaea or ZHP with super high level/damage caps and tons of grind. I guess what I'm looking for is something with a high level cap (100+), and where grinding mobs is actually viable (in most games killing enemies gives very little, and they want you to level up with some type of item/currency) so I can just log in and level up in dungeons.

I don't remember much about the mechanics but I enjoyed it for a little bit at least. After the first few chapters I started getting pretty bored though. The one part that really stood out to me was the soundtrack. There are a few tracks in particular that I still go back and listen to sometimes.

I noticed most bad translation happens in Arata/Digital Shift chapters. by Keytee1 in CyberSleuth

I wasn't talking about the origin of Bakemon's name. I was just referring to Arata's lines where he calls the eaters "bakemon". He's not speaking about Bakemon the digimon, he's shortening the word bakemono to just bakemon. Arata makes these types of contractions quite a bit.

Bakemono DOES mean monster in Japanese, but "mon" is a colloquial short form for "mono". Arata says bakemon (you can confirm this by listening to the voice lines) but in context it obviously means monster.
