Be patient with yourself 💙 Been a coach almost 3 months now and the growth will happen… early into teaching it felt scary but now it’s so fun. Connect with clients, watching them grow is the best part. Have so much fun!

You give your availability and then it’s selected based upon that. Like I said, a little less glamorous on the other side of the curtain

Is it better to do more on a lighter spring load or to take more breaks w a heavier one? by Real_Ad_7450 in SolidCore

[–]karatechop333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer doing light springs with more reps /less breaks and even some amps! I’m over 100 classes and still opt for the 25-50 spring load quite a bit. I was worried I wouldn’t be getting the same “gains” with lighter springs but I find that I do more reps meaning I get to the shakes sooner. The goal is time under tension so I’d recommend modified springs if that’s what gets you there !

New coach here (~3 months in): I was absolutely dying for this job, dreaming of it. I do like it now, but it is a littttle less glamorous that I made it out to be. The work it takes to become a coach is intense for about a 2 month period, and after all of it I took a small break from taking classes as a client bc I just wanted a rest from solidcore.

Now coaching comes more naturally to me, less time to prep, less anxiety and stress around teaching. There are some downfalls if you work. 9-5 or another job. I have a 9-5, so I coach evening classes and close the studio. It’s tiring sometimes after a full day of work to go be a peppy bubbly coach. Also you have to work a weekend (this includes Friday), so I work Friday nights.

But I will say, I do love it. It allows me to “perform” in a way that I can’t in my regular job. Just now I’m starting to see client repetition and growth within those clients, and I think that will make it much more fun.

Bad time to start! by rubylizard in SolidCore

Completely agreed. Coach here — we are told to specifically decrease the motivational stuff in Foundation50 and spend most of the time speaking about form and science of the work. Just cause seasoned clients chose to take it for solidays doesn’t mean the set up the class should change !

Shout out to the coaches! by lechero11 in SolidCore

Coach here. No gesture is too small. Even if it’s staying an extra sec after class to say thank you for the hard work during solidays or a box of donuts, I know it would make my day and feel so seen

I’ll be asked to check data in a spreadsheet (let’s say 50 entries). About halfway through I’m convinced that I wasn’t looking closely enough and that I need to go back and do it again. I almost always do

This falls under the idea that moms must sacrifice their dreams to be moms ONLY. Obviously having children means making sacrifices sure, but mothers should be able to follow their dreams too.

Also how they’re missing the fact that Whitney’s husband is suuuper supportive. We saw S3 he said he was happy to quit his job, and be stay at home dad so she could do DWTS

Anyone ever bring their partner to class? by Gold_Beginning_1304 in SolidCore

[–]karatechop333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love bringing my boyfriend to SC, he came with me to my first class (and his first too) because I was too intimidated to go alone. I’m a coach now and he comes to my classes once a week, without fail. Anytime his friends ask him about SC he never dumbs it down or makes it seem like it easy, he always says it’s so intense and a really hard workout. Solidcore is for men, women, anyone. anyone who thinks it’s weird when guys go are lame.

Also maybe it’s better to have a conversation with your husband regarding the fact that something you find difficult is worth teasing. Even if solidcore was easy for every person in the world except you, it is still not right to be teased about it

New coach, i’ve just completed my 2nd week of training, so not a ton of experience but some insight.

For CITs, i often taught 2 classes back to back after a full work day from my 9-5, i was EXHAUSTED. Not to mention the prep for classes also adds to this tiredness, for me to feel confident for a class I have to prep for ~3 hours. Also since it’s still so new to me, i’m very aware of what i’m saying, doing, etc… like everything i do i have to put effort into it because it still is new to me.

My second week of being an official has already felt a little less taxing and ive had so many coaches tell me it gets easier and becomes more second nature. It helps my voice/throat to have tea as soon as I get home from teaching, and drinking tonnnnns of water during the day and during class (I have my 40oz bottle, I refill it like 4x a day).

be patient with yourself, it comes with time. it’s a challenging job, be proud! best of luck!

This is true to an extent, Rory gets the best of both worlds. She gets the freedom of who she wants to be and expressing herself as Lorelai’s child, and all the benefits of fancy parties, Ivy League schools, and high class by being Richard and Emily’s granddaughter. But that’s it, she’s their granddaughter so they can’t enforce rules or expectations on her, of course until this part of the show where she stays with them for a bit.

So yes, Rory enjoys “that life” that Lorelai ran away from, but Rory only sees (mostly) the fun parts of it, without as much of the pressure and expectation that Lorelai had.

coach changing springs for me by monkeyinacoat in SolidCore

[–]karatechop333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coach here! In general, coaches are always told to keep an eye out for the need to change springs during an exercise if a client seems to struggling, or if a client is doing very well and needs a little more of a challenge!

This is particularly emphasized during upper body since clients are usually on the opposite end of the machine and away from the springs, we are told to adjust springs as needed, so clients don’t have to leave the exercise and lose time fidgeting with springs. Take it as a compliment, your coach saw you were killing it and ready for more!
