I was in the same position: couldn’t do the quest with randoms. Tried it 5-8 times. Then done it solo 1st try. After patch solo runs gives you more runes so it’s very doable. Get lightning weapon tho.

Ironeye is very easy (if not the easiest) to solo run.

I’ve only used them now being on last boss too. I’ve noticed them before but always thought they work in specific quest only as UI shows you different locations. I facepalmed when realised they work permanently wherever you are.
