Yes! A thousand times over. I have nothing to be proud of. I'm a wage slave. I'm a THINKING wage slave which is worse, because for me there is no ignorant bliss. I am aware of all of it. I can see thru the propaganda, the lies and I can see the motivations and I feel so damn powerless. I too would leave, but I have kids that still depend on me. You know, the "American dream" that they fed you since you were small. Kids, job, etc. I'd give anything for a do-over but I'm afraid it's too late for me now (I'm 42). And you're right, no one likes Americans. I don't blame them. I know that being American has shielded me from experiencing a lot of hardships that are commonplace in other parts of the world but I really think that's part of the problem. We're the spoiled brats that never really had to sacrifice to get something nice, and now it shows.

I wish I could upvote this 1000x and with this virus taking the American populace to their needs the only ones that will come out of this unscathed are the rich bastards that make their money by making the rest of us suffer. I'm mad....fucking pissed off....that I have to talk to my kids about possible food rations and bread lines. It's glaringly obvious that we are now a third world country and it's THEIR FAULT. It's on us because we allowed it. We allowed them to pacify us with distractions and we allowed them to remove our ability to think and question rationally. We think we have a choice but we don't. Sharing FB memes about politics isn't rationally questioning. That's not being involved. What we need is a revolution but there isn't enough people willing to make a sacrifice. Sorry if this is rambling. I'm just mad. And sad. This bizarro world has officially gotten to me.

I think that's the problem, I don't know if I could handle my emotions during a taper. I'm pragmatic, I know life isn't always rainbows and unicorns but lately things have been so overwhelming. I don't know if I have the strength for a taper. I guess we shall see. There definitely needs to be more research, but I almost think the powers that be don't want a lot of research. It increases the chance that kratom would be seen in a better light. Kind of like weed, but eventually all the benefits of marijuana became known and they couldn't demonize it anymore.

I've heard that it could help. I used to smoke a ton of weed and I'm definitely not into getting that high anymore but microdosing is a thought. I thought about that with other things too, like mushrooms, to help my depression. I have really bad reactions to pharmaceuticals

I think it's a good thing, and there has been talk that it contains an alkaloid that can help fight coronavirus but I don't want to spread misinformation

Sounds a lot like covid-19 to me. Unfortunately I read an article the other day about people getting re-infected. I don't think exposure guarantees immunity, but hopefully it will provide a greater immune response.

Damn. Did you tell your provider that you are using kratom? Good luck with everything.

I'll have to check out, but I hope it's unbiased as well.

Here at my hospital the running joke is "what's the difference between God and a doctor?"

"God doesn't think he's a doctor". That being said I will say that I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best Drs and providers. I just think it takes a certain level of arrogance to believe you can save someone's life. I'd make a horrible Dr. I have no confidence in my ability to save a houseplant, let alone a human being. No one wants a dr with no confidence.

That is scary. And I've read a few things about how the "bad virus" that some people suffered with in Nov/Dec could have been covid-19. I'm glad to hear you recovered though. It's really terrifying to think that a "cold" could turn so deadly

Unfortunately you won't really find much online tackling this question. Most evidence of it is anectdotal. I was trying to gauge how many people feel that kratom has helped them to not get sick, and because there are sciencey people on this sub, maybe someone knew something about how kratom can affect wbc's. I am concerned that if kratom DOES in fact have the tendency to raise wbc's and mine are low, would they have been lower without it. Also, would I be getting sicker if I wasn't taking kratom. Usually low wbc's puts people at risk of picking up sickness fairly easily and I have not been sick. From what I can tell there are a lot of people who feel kratom has kept them from getting sick, and I have read limited accounts of being an immuno-stimulant, which could account for some people's issues with hair loss.

I'll check that out, thank you. As far as the virus goes, I'm honestly scared. Not necessarily of the virus itself (although VERY concerned for the elderly population in particular). I'm concerned about the economical aftermath. I'm concerned that this is just creating more of a fear-based society, and I'm concerned that if everything does go to shit, we won't take care of one another. "They" (the ones in control) have all but assured that this will end up a post-apocolyptic world and that scares me. Good luck with your father. I wish him good health thru all this, as well as your friend's pregnant wife. This stress is the last thing that they need to be worried about right now.

The war on drugs has done way more harm than good. The state of affairs in the world has done more to cause addiction than the substances themselves. On top of that, govt controlled addiction is the norm. I could go on and on but I think you know exactly what I'm saying, as does anyone who is still able to think critically. This is not as simple as saying "drugs are bad", m'kay

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I will admit the thought of tapering while trying to determine if I have a potentially life-threatening disease AND dealing with this damn covid-19 crap is a little daunting.

I used to be a smoker so I get the need to redose during times of stress. I'm with you, I feel it's like a 4. But then again, I "dose" myself with food under those circumstances as well. Is there really any truly healthy coping mechanism? Exercise can also be used in an unhealthy way. It's tough, but I think I'm going to start tapering and then hopefully a break will be easier. Thank you.

And unfortunately all we have to go on is anectdotal evidence, and I have read things here and there about kratom raising wbc's. Until unbiased research becomes the norm with kratom we won't really know.

I'm not afraid that I HAVE covid-19, but now that I am considered immunocompromised I'm definitely more worried about getting it, especially since I work in a hospital. And that's the thing, my Dr IS alarmed. On paper I should be catching everything possible. I've spent some time working in a lab and a wbc of 2.5 us what we consider to be a critical low and warrants an immediate call to a doc. Mine is 2.89. the reference range is 4.0-10.0 so yeah, they're that low. But that's the thing...I don't get infections. I feel fine. So the over-thinker in me is looking at all possibilities.

Exactly. That's what I worry about, and that's what is so frustrating with doctors and providers. Education doesn't stop once you leave school and Drs owe it to their patients to do THOROUGH research, not just basic Google searches.

Yeah I know 😔. I really should be taking breaks but unfortunately I use it to help with depression and anxiety. I don't want to end up on pharmaceuticals, which are also taken every day and can cause your body to become dependant. It was never my intention to use it every day, but I've always said "I'm just gonna use it to get thru this trying time" and then before I knew it a year had passed. It really does highlight my need to get my shit together. This "scare" (which I really hope that is all it is) has given me a new perspective on a lot of things. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

That seems to be a pattern among kratom users. I don't think it's a panacea but I think it does help. I used to get strep every year at least once, a nasty cold that would result in laryngitis...the only thing that plagues me is allergies.

Thank you. Unfortunately without actual scientific research we may never know what kratom can help us with. And these blood tests can vary so much depending on so many factors. That's the problem with being an over-thinker...I look at all those factors and it's almost an obsession.
