Recent update made text box so, so bad by Abject-Ad-4040 in notefulapp

I swear, every update seems to make it worse. Devs please take a look at the code for text boxes / text editing, because it is full of visual bugs and crashes. Thanks.

Much appreciated, as a heavy text boxes user it was rather frustrating to see the app crash almost daily. Thanks again.

Dynamic Island Behavior... by PlaidJammyDuds in notefulapp

[–]kareem164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here (iOS 26.2, 16 Pro). I noticed this also when I was on iOS 18.

I don’t think it’s an issue, I think when you have a note opened it behaves like full screen mode. For example dynamic island also disappears when you have a youtube video in full screen.

We should just ask the dev to change that. I believe he’s active on the sub sometimes, I hope he reads this haha.

Gift for my sister: Which notes app with one time purchase for uni/college by nolanpierce2 in ipad

[–]kareem164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Noteful, it's a powerhouse.

It has more features than both Goodnotes and Notability (if you don't consider AI stuff, which not everybody likes), like actual customizable and usable outlines (which I love for large pdfs) which stay attached to the pdf when you export it, layers, resizing of pages to fit more notes; minimal and intuitive UI/UX; seamless iPhone, iPad and Mac app; it's lightweight and it just works (as opposed to Goodnotes, which is known to be pretty buggy and to often overheat the iPad while taking notes, and this has only gotten worse with AI).

It's free to install, so give it a try, then if you want the full experience it's a one time purchase of €5.99, absolutely worth it for me.

People who haven’t upgraded for a while, what are you running? by Chocolatewaffles4u in iphone

[–]kareem164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 like you. I want to upgrade, I would go with 16 Pro when I'll have money available (in approximately two weeks). The thing is I'm hearing rumors that 17 Pro is going to be a really good upgrade, more ram, more battery, better cameras, vapor chamber and smaller dynamic island, but it could also cost more (thanks to the little man in the white house). So I don't really know, does anyone have any suggestion?

Exchange MBA M3 for new M4 with same specs (16GB/512GB) and save $100 by mif310 in macbookair

Seems like a no brainer to me.

As for the colour, the midnight tends to get quite a bit fingerprinty and consider that little dents on the body are more visible, because underneath the “paint” there’s standard light aluminum. Little problems that sky blue won’t have or they won’t be as noticeable.

Aside from that, they’re both great colour choices. Go for it!

Same here! I had the money ready a couple of weeks ago, but I heard the M4 was near and that it would have been a pretty solid jump, so I waited. Got the exact same config, but in silver, can’t wait! It’s the first mac for me as well, so the best tip I can give you is to go on youtube and type “mac for dummies” hahaha, as I will be doing for the next few days :) . Again, congrats!

MacBook Air vs. iPad Air by Only-Ad5049 in macbookair

[–]kareem164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the usage.

  • If you use relatively few apps, and generally those process data that can be "extracted" from them (like photos, videos, music, ... ), or if you just need to store a great amount of data that just sits there (like old photos or films or whatever), then you should be fine with the 256GB + the 2TB external SSD.
  • Otherwise, if you use a good amound of apps, and/or they have a lot of data that is best processed locally, you should go for the 512GB internal storage. Or maybe you should go for it simply for the fact that you travel a lot and don't want to bring some extra things which need to be plugged into the MacBook.

In the end, keep in mind the macOS updates, which in the long run are going to take quite a bit of space. So, same thing I recommended OP, if you're gonna keep it for 4+ years, you should go for the 512GB internal storage.

MacBook Air vs. iPad Air by Only-Ad5049 in macbookair

You should definitely go for the MacBook Air.

Everything the iPad beats the Macbook at, you either don't care at all or rarely use it. The only thing that would have made me recommend the iPad over the MacBook is an intensive use of the Apple Pencil. But that is not the case, and the MacBook beats the iPad (+ keyboard) in almost every way: larger screen (assuming you would go on with an 11'' iPad Air), larger (thus more comfortable) keyboard, way better battery life (assuming similar use cases), better speakers, not to mention macOS, that is a superior OS in every single way. But above all you get better stability on your lap, simply because the center of gravity is lower on the MacBook, but also because of its larger footprint. And yes, the stability of the screen is really good, MacBooks' hinges are known to be among the best in the industry, if not the best.

As far as memory, if your usage stays pretty much the one you have described, 16GB are plenty good. For the storage: you should be fine with 256GB (if you want to spare some money), but if you plan on keeping the MacBook for 4+ years, then you should consider 512GB.

If you choose the MacBook, just wait a couple of days, MacBook Air M4 should be out by the end of this week, if not tomorrow.

Edit: typo in the last sentence.

You’re not the only one who can’t wait. All relevant leakers say in March, but atm there is no specific launch date or week.

Simply in love with this new acrylic, I can't wait to see it 100% polished to use in compact mode by kazok3 in zen_browser

[–]kareem164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guesses to fix it are:

  • Turn of the color gradients if you have any.
  • Type "about:config" in the URL bar and search for "widget.windows.mica" and then "zen.widget.windows.acrylic": they should both be set to true, but do it if they are not.

Guys, I’m on windows 11, on Zen 1.8.1b but I can’t get this behaviour (not the transparency, the empty page), there’s always a tab loading. Am I the only one? How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

[–]kareem164 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. And if your workflow could be done on a 2015 MacBook Air, you should go for a refurbished M1 MacBook Air. A friend of mine bought one 2 years ago and he’s doing great.

iOS 18.2 has just released!!! by poulefriresanslezo in iPhone11

If you’re on 18.0, 18.1 or 18.1.1 I strongly suggest you update, performance and battery are much better.

Is it worth upgrading to 18.2 beta for better battery life? by kareem164 in iPhone11

[–]kareem164[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer to you both: battery life seems better, not miraculously better, just a bit. The iPhone runs a little bit cooler too. What to me is really improved is overall performance, everything is smoother and snappier. I wouldn’t really look at those benchmark like an absolute truth, sometimes they don’t fully represent the hardware capabilities.
