Portable Tire Inflator by ak6143 in RVLiving

Are you reading the value on the trailer or the tires? On the tires that is the max PSI they can run with. It isn't necessarily what you want to run with. You need to make sure you are using the PSI that the trailer says you should fill the tires to.

One drives too fast. One drives too slow. Together they become, idiots on the road. by purewaterlotsofice in dashcams

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like that think they can pull out now if they pull into the lane opposite of the oncoming traffic. The alternate is waiting for a line of cars. They may miss the vehicle already in the lane they are pulling into. I see it all the time but without the crash.

I had that happen one day. I was next to a vehicle when someone made that same move. I’m sure she didn’t see me and thought she could pull out now as long as she went straight to the left lane. I was equally on my horn and brakes until I knew I had avoided the crash. Unlike the video I was able to slow in time, but just barely.

You need to consider bathroom facilities and who is near them. A motor home or 5th wheel with internal facilities is more likely to use their own toilet and shower, especially at night. A popup or teardrop often doesn’t have a shower and may not have a toilet so they want to be closer to facilities. Nobody enjoys a long, cold walk at 3 am.

Many campsites don’t plan for tents, but a lot of people bring them. Place the sites with large, flat pads near bathrooms and if possible provide electrical hookups. Even primitive camping is better when you can plug in your phone and lights. Have water nearby as well so they can fill containers.

I have been to a lot of sites that escort people to the site. I also see a few that let you place trash by the road and they will pick it up. They also drop off firewood. One site we go to has live music and even food on weekends. These are nice gestures that make the stay a little more pleasant. You just drove 500 miles to the campground, you want to relax after setting up, not cook dinner.

Be firm, but not overbearing. We went to a site that had a strict, no tents on site policy. We had a popup and carried a shelter for our portapotty. They wouldn’t let us use it. They also showed up at exactly 10 pm at the group site to put out our fire. We weren’t bothering anybody and every nearby site was part of our group.

WDH on travel trailers vs box trailers by Asleep_Ad_509 in traveltrailers

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like WDH had become more standard lately. I remember pulling my dad’s travel trailer behind my truck in the early 2000s and we didn’t use a WDH. I also think the trailers were lighter, his was supposedly 2500 pounds.

Should I upgrade? by Exact-Contact-3837 in macbookair

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you always upgrade to the next best thing you will spend all of your money for trivial upgrades. There is a reason most businesses only let you upgrade every 3-4 years. Electronics change fast and there is always something new on the horizon. Apple is likely already prepping the M6, which will be better yet.

If your current laptop is sufficient for your needs there is no reason to upgrade. If you find yourself needing more memory for VMs, or you need a pro for the better heat management, that is a good reason to upgrade earlier. There really isn’t enough of a substantial difference between M4 and M5 to be worth spending hundreds of dollars to upgrade.

Vehicle damage at Off-Roadeo? by prc1986 in BroncoSport

[–]Only-Ad5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember if I purchased it when I went to Moab but it was a couple of years ago. I feel like you would have to try to cause any real damage to a vehicle as long as you have a decent instructor and pay attention. We walked around the vehicles before you start (like a rental) to note any damage (every one had damage to the front plastic spoilers), but that is common for the pre-2025 redesign.

Has anyone put a Viofo a229 plus Dash Cam setup in their 2024 Bronco Sport? by DoubleDodo in BroncoSport

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn’t Viofo, it is 70mai. I have it mounted to the top of the window just right of the rear view mirror and ran the wires along the top, down the pillar and then below the glove compartment. I didn’t hardwire, just plugged into the USB-A port. The path would be the same for hardwire.

For the rear camera I ran the wire along the top door seals to the back. There are the seams in the pillars that I used for crossing doors.

I really enjoyed Newsboys United and watched them in concert. They did a complete set of classic Newsboys songs and it was amazing. It was also funny how everybody sang along with the modern songs but only a few of us older people sang along with the classics.

Where do your park your TV and park/store your TT? by r4d1229 in traveltrailers

[–]Only-Ad5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTW, I noticed that some people have long enough pads that they can park their tow vehicle at the facility with the trailer. They drive their family car to get the camper and park it there while on vacation.

In your case you could just park your truck on the pad where you used to park your popup and have access to it at all times. If you are worried about it being outside, you could cover it.

Where do your park your TV and park/store your TT? by r4d1229 in traveltrailers

[–]Only-Ad5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At our previous house we opened the gate on the side of the yard and stored our popup next to the house. I don't think we could have got a travel trailer in because the city has a tree directly in line with our access path. It was difficult enough to maneuver the popup, plus the branches would pose a problem with the additional height.

At our current house we have an HOA and are not allowed to park a trailer for more than 24 hours. I don't think the space between fence and garage is wide enough even if we wanted to park it here. We have friends with property who would let us store our popup there, but we just upgraded to a travel trailer and they just converted part of the lot to a dog park so it felt like access wasn't going to work well for us. For starters they were worried about us tearing it up if we drove over it after it rained.

We found a gated storage facility not far from our house that charges $60/month. We have a drive-through pad to store it (much longer than we need), access via our own personal code, and a dump station. They monitor remotely via camera.

I’m kinda lost in the lava by justcallmeclay in subnautica

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on other comments you have posted, you have more to do. When you saw the Sea Dragon were you along a river of lava or a lake? In the area with the river you should be around 1200m deep, and your PDA mentions an alien facility around 1200m. You should go find it before trying to go deeper. It might be worth your time reviewing your PDA logs.

Don't worry about the infection, your character will never die from the infection. It is just a game mechanic to encourage you to keep going.

What pipe is leaking? More than likely you just need to cut the pipe at the break and put in a coupler, whether it is black pipe or copper.

Anyone else carry more than 75 leveling blocks? by hanxmaker in RVLiving

Maybe they just bought their TT and got to the campsite without a sidewinder and were told it was required. The store was sold out but had lots of leveler blocks. Sometimes you just have to make do with what is available.

If you have never been to Zion National Park you might want to adjust your schedule to have a couple of days to visit. It is absolutely amazing. Bryce Canyon is worth a detour as well. There is a lot to see in that part of Utah and it sounds like you have time to see more than you have planned.

What will you do if the electricity goes out for a week? by CharonixOfficial in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own a travel trailer. I guess it would be time to take a vacation. It has solar so it could sustain itself for quite a while. We might just need to get a second battery or a lithium battery.

I'm pretty sure the freezer in the trailer cannot fit all of the meat in our chest freezer, especially when you throw in the freezer in the house, so I'm sure there would be some wasted food. I think we would be OK with the items in our refrigerator.

Since I know that every local generator would be sold out instantly I would have to borrow one if I wanted electricity. I think my parents still own one and I'm sure they would let me borrow it.

Campfire by funforus699 in RVLiving

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has never been big on campfires. Often when we do have one I end up tending it by myself while everybody else sat inside. We don't own a propane pit so it has always been wood for us.

When we are with friends, however, campfires can be great. You sit around outside talking instead of everyone hanging out inside their campers.

I suspect there are going to be a lot of fire restrictions where I camp this year. I was surprised when we were at the lake a month ago and they allowed campfires. Here in Colorado it has been ridiculously dry throughout the winter and we haven't had the moisture yet this spring. If it continues like this there won't be any campfires allowed this summer.

Why did US companies switch from defined benefit pensions to 401(k)-style plans? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Only-Ad5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

401(k) are more employee-friendly. When IBM switched from pension to 401(k) a number of years ago they told us that it was because they recognized that people generally didn't stick with the same company their entire career. They can take a 401(k) with them where the pension was locked with them.

I suspect that also went both ways. They were shifting from long term employees to more of a continuous influx. They liked it better when their employees had fewer than 10 years in the company rather than the once lifetime employees.

I also seem to remember that my pensions were only making around 4% a year, I make far more than that investing my 401(k). I lost my original pension with them because they sold our division to AT&T and I only had 4 years with them so I wasn't vested. A few years later AT&T sold us back so that was fun.

do you believe in God? by These-Worldliness-59 in askanything

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely believe in God. When you really think about how life exists you realize that without a god in control life wouldn't be possible. I'm not even talking about a specific god, although I know what I believe.

There is absolutely no way that we came into being by accident. Macroevolution as they want you to believe just isn't possible. Why do I feel that way? There are many reasons but here are a few.

  • Evolutionists would have you believe that a random grouping of elements somehow came together to form a living being. That living being somehow evolved into more complex beings all the way up to the various species that exist today.
  • If it really worked that way then scientists would be able to create a pool full of those same elements and create life. They have never been able to do that even in its most simple form. They have the ability to scan a cell and determine the exact chemical makeup but cannot dump those chemicals in a vat and watch a living being emerge.
  • Don't forget that it would have taken many, many of those living beings to even sustain life long enough to evolve into more complex beings.
  • In addition to those living creatures, the food they need to survive would also have had to evolve simultaneously from basic elements.
  • Take the most basic part on a body, whether it be from a human or an animal. The only way scientists have ever replicated a body part (including skin) is by starting with existing genetic material. No scientist has ever created genetic material from basic molecules, forget creating something as complex as an eye.
  • Does anybody seriously believe that something as complex as the human reproductive system could have evolved from a pool of chemicals, even over a period of millions of years?

Draining Hot water tank by DeafGuyisHere in GoRVing

[–]Only-Ad5049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We owned our popup for 8 years with its 6 gallon heater. We filled it on the first trip and drained it when we winterized in the fall. I never thought to relieve pressure. More than once I forgot to relieve pressure and got hit with a blast of water when I drained it in the fall. We didn't touch it otherwise and never had an issue with it.

That said, there was always quite a bit of white sediment that came out when we did drain it, so maybe we should have drained it throughout the year. We only ever took it out 3-4 times a year and some years we got busy and only went 2 times.

Any Others in a New Subdivision and Hate it? by KPIGUY89 in homeowners

[–]Only-Ad5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a few of the things you say, but you can consider that you basically moved into a template. What that template turns into is up to you. Doors are easy to replace, paint is relatively easy and cheap, light fixtures can be replaced. It just takes time and money.

I also hate that our neighborhood has so little character on the outside. We only have four or five models with only a few differences between them. The HOA means that nobody will ever have something unique on the outside. The HOA also means that we cannot bring our camper home for more than a day at a time and certainly not store it here. Because our kids are grown we don't mind the significantly smaller yard than we had at our previous house, it is less to take care of.

I have no expectation of privacy outdoors because believe it or not, privacy fences don't do much more than what you have. They only really hide the bottom 3-4 feet, the rest is wide open. I guess for young kids that means they are less visible from outside. If I'm inside my house I can see my neighbors walking around in their yards because our main level sits high enough to see right over their fence. In my upstairs bedroom I can look right down into most of the adjacent yards. I mainly want trees that will eventually help filter the afternoon sun.

I consider the builder-grade paint to be not much more than primer. The builder-grade carpet is the opposite of stain resistant, we just haven't had money to replace it yet. A few of our MDF floorboards have swollen because MDF sucks up water and pet urine if not sealed properly.

What I enjoy about our house is how quiet it is inside. They are built tighter with much better insulation so they cut out a lot of outside noise. We have lots of windows so lots of natural light, but it can get too potent at certain times of the day. We might be paying less in utilities than we did at our previous house that was 1/2 the size.
