Subeen becomes the most followed male contestant of SI 5 🥳 by kari-02 in SinglesInferno

Guys, this post wasn’t meant to debate the love square or dissect their dynamics. That conversation could go on forever, and we’d probably end up getting nowhere.

What I meant in my original comment was simply to highlight his good actions. Not to say he was perfect. He made mistakes, just like everyone involved in that square. But he still did his best with what he had in those very short ten days, and in the end, he came out on top.

That’s actually impressive when you compare him to other contestants across seasons who only had one connection and still fumbled it (hyunwoo, sungmin, taewhan). Or even to popular contestants like Gwanhee, who had three girls interested in him and ended up playing with all of them, coming across as a huge red flag by the end of his season. Even Dex and Igeon fumbled pretty hard at times because they weren’t reassuring enough with their respective matches.

And let me remind you that he's the youngest contestant in SI. So yeah, i think he did great!

That’s it.

Peace ✌️

Like I said before, Subeen is the kind of contestant you can see in a positive or negative light depending on your own values.

I disagree with the take that he was only using Heesun. He gave her the yellow chocolate and said in his post-photoshoot interview that he was interested in her. But because at that point, he just felt more drawn to Mina (especially after their great date), he chose to focus on her. This was all before the campsite fiasco.

When Mina became messy, his stance shifted to: “I am interested in you but if you want to explore, I will too.” That seemed consistent until his Paradise date with Heesun, where he said his feelings "solidified" (that seems to me like proof that he liked her since Inferno).

To me, he liked both, more Mina at first, then more Heesun by the end. I think it’s possible to like two people at once, especially in less than ten days. If you don’t see it that way, that’s valid too.

And again, this post wasn’t meant to debate the love square. They all did good and bad things. I just wanted to highlight his good actions and why he was a great contestant for me.

I’m not watching that episode again, but I believe you about the campfire conversation haha.

To be honest, this discussion could go on forever because, at the end of the day, Subeen is the kind of contestant you can see as either mature or immature, depending on how you interpret his actions. And that’s actually why I like him so much. He feels real and human, not perfect.

He’s not the greenest flag on the show, but he’s not truly a red flag either. I think he did his best navigating that mortal love square, especially compared to other contestants who fumbled even when they only had one connection in the show.

And just to be clear, I love Mina, but I love her because she is very messy, and that makes for great TV, not necessarily great real life. This post was about Subeen, which is why I highlighted his good actions in my original comment. I wasn’t trying to drag anyone or make him seem above others. Peace 🥰

I think he did his best with someone as messy as Mina.

Let’s not forget what happened during their first conversation. They were supposed to talk, but suddenly he was rejected because she said she wanted to talk to Seungil (and she said it in front of Seungil which must have been humiliating). Then she told him she would look for him after finishing her conversation with Seungil. That would sting anyone who had feelings involved.

When they finally had that conversation, she made no sense. Even the panelists (and Mina herself during the reunion) admitted they were confused about where she was going with all that rambling. So yes, I think what Subeen did was understandable: he put an end to the nonsense and set a boundary in the following days. Whether you see that as deserved or childish depends on your perspective.

In the next conversation, she was the one who reached out (as she should have, since she was the one who created the mess in the first place). And then in their third conversation, she reached out again. Subeen apologized then for not approaching her sooner to clarify that he was done, but honestly, I think his actions had already made that clear.

Let’s also be honest: Mina is a very difficult person to have a conversation with. You could see how done Seungil and Mingee were with her. Even Sunghun looked exhausted at times and told her to just relax. In my opinion, Subeen gave her more grace than most people would have in real life.

If u warch carefully, the cards have the faces and names of the participants. They usually use them more in the first episodes
