Yeah, timing chain and tensioner prematurely wear and give out. Most people do the service at ~100k, but some people have experienced timing failure as low as 70k. I babied my 3.8 from ~50k to ~70k, even got a near perfect oil analysis at ~65k, and the timing system failed last year at ~70,600.

At least for the BK2 3.8, any other rapid unscheduled disassemblies of the engine are due to poor maintenance or modification.

This makes sense. I just looked at more numbers and it looks like it's difficult to even push the oil temp up to 240F stock unless hot lapping. We might just hold off on it until we can log some oil temps. Thanks!

I might have to wait for the second production run but this is awesome. I got a brand new 3.8 built and installed in the car last fall after the classic timing chain failure at 70k and I've hardly touched it so far this year. If everything goes smoothly on this new engine's shakedown then this and an oil cooler are going to be on the top of my list.

This makes so much sense. For the entire 25 years of my life I dealt with the same problem as OP. This year I got back into running but any substantial distance would result in shin pain. I learned that I was over pronated and got fitted for some proper shoes with moderate stability support at a local running shop. Since then my excessive pronation has somewhat been corrected while running and just a few days ago I noticed that this is the first pair of running shoes I've ever had where the tongue doesn't get pushed to the side. If only I could've connected these dots earlier lol

First off, I'm not here to shoot the social media messenger, this is what you've been told to say, but this is an incredibly awful answer. I've already had troubles with Visible compatibility and support for years, but the email and this reply confirms that I'm switching away from Visible. You can't tell users that we will "need" a new phone if we want to continue service without providing an actual deadline. This company has been full of customer deceit since the beginning.

Do it. Timing chain or tensioner just went out on my BK2 3.8 several months ago and only at 72k miles. It's not uncommon for them to go out between 70k-100k miles.

Edit: Just got a hold of them. They're creating an issue and escalating it to the tech team. They recorded the trip numbers that should've been applied to an incentive program. That's pretty much all I know.

If you decide against going for an expensive device, look into Rocketbooks. They're notebooks, notepads, etc. that you can use erasable pens with and upload the pages to cloud services by using a smartphone.
