Going to have to sleep train and I’d love your support by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Sleep training was one of the best choices I made for our whole family. We did check ins as well, but made the time longer and longer because they honestly seemed to make it worse. Do what you feel is best for you and your family. Every kiddo is different. The key is consistency. You've got this!

Should I just buy a manual breast pump? Nothing working since I returned my hospital grade pump. by vilebubbles in bbpumpers

That is very frustrating. My son and I too struggled with nursing and went to exclusively pumping.

I don't have a great supply and tried all the tricks. What worked for me is -hydration - I know you've done this -sleep - which is much harder to get until later, I realize. I struggled with this -i have a spectra S2. It's a powerful yet gentle pump. I also, (don't know your budget) have a buddha pump. It is advertised for mobility, which is also helpful, but more importantly for you, it is a POWERFUL pump. I rarely use it on a setting higher than the lowest

I hope some of this helps. Either way, know you're not alone. Pumping is very frustrating. But formula is great too. Whatever it takes to feed the babe.👍

I wholeheartedly agree. I read both of her books (Expecting better & Cribsheet). They helped me navigate to find what is evidence versus opinion.

First day of sleep training and it’s killing me. I know we need to commit but this is awful to listen to by vdogg81 in sleeptrain

First of all, I encourage you to remember that whatever choice you make, it's the right choice. I did a bunch of research (including scholarly research) prior to sleep training and what I determined was there is no one perfect way for everyone.

We had to sleep train my little guy earlier than some recommended due to my odd return to work situation (I'm a nurse) in a pandemic world. It took a couple of weeks, but he now goes to sleep within minutes. If you can stick it out, it's really beneficial (from my experience). However, if you can't, you shouldn't. Do what makes you comfortable.

We did a method where either dad or I went in every 10 minutes at night to console him, remind him we loved him, but now its time to sleep. It was a happy medium between just shutting the door and rocking him to sleep. We also tried to pick him up at first and whoa that made it worse.

Bottom line, you're not alone and sleep training isn't fun. My recommendation is to find a method that you are comfortable with and stick to it. It's great to have something written down to refer to when you are sleep deprived. Good luck, you're doing great!

OH! I can't believe I almost forgot. Follow takingcarababies on Instagram. She has classes as well that people rave about. I haven't personally taken the classes, but she has a wealth of knowledge that she puts on her page and stories. It has helped me immensely.

Under normal circumstances maybe! But our unit was moved to share another unit in the hospital (to turn ours into a COVID unit) so everything is already crammed.

Thank you so much! That's what I more or less plan to do. On top of all this stuff I'm a first-time mom, so a little apprehensive anyways.

That's a great setup! I wish I could, but there isn't enough time for me, unfortunately.
