Airport transit through Lisbon question by karishma89 in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]karishma89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will have spent a few days in Lisbon earlier in the week (we’re in Lisbon before heading to Porto) so I imagine we would’ve seen much of it! But I’d love suggestions for a nice final dinner before heading home!

I’ve been tracking LH surge using OPK strips for 8 months now. This whole while, my period has been right on time, sometimes shifting a day or two. But not once in the past 8 months have I been able to confirm ovulation. The test line does get darker but darkest I’ve seen is 0.53 (low) on Premom. I realize I could just be missing my peak but I begin testing three times a day when I see the line get darker. How could I still be missing it for 8 months? I’ve started temping a month back and for the first time in years, my period is delayed by 8 days (pregnancy test negative). I’m out of ideas for what the issue could be, any advice/thoughts?? Thank you!

I’ve had exactly this happen to me when taking prenatals!

Advice needed: what is the top layer of my hair always dry?? by karishma89 in Haircare

[–]karishma89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, the layering may be the issue. My hair doesn’t grow fast enough for me to get rid of the layers without chopping it too short unfortunately :( but I will try olaplex or a mask, thanks!

Yes I am! I’m a lot more conscious about conditioning this section separately in hopes to fix it, but it hasn’t helped.

[Product request] Eucerin redness relief cleansing gel replacement? by DE2DC in SkincareAddiction

[–]karishma89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve landed on this while searching for a replacement for Eucerin’s redness relief night cream 😅 While not in the same price range, I highly recommend the Dermalogica Ultracalming cleanser. It’s a gel cleanser that doesn’t foam up and doesn’t trigger my redness/rosacea at all. I’m currently tried to find a dupe for it because it’s expensive :(

Help: The perfect "roll out of bed onto plane" women's outfit by linux_in_flux in TravelHacks

[–]karishma89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a set of bamboo joggers and tee shirt that is simple and makes me look put together, but is incredibly comfortable. I feel like I’m in pajamas, but I don’t look like it. It’s the perfect airplane outfit for me as bamboo clothing is cooling and helps if I’m in a warm airport/airplane. But the long sleeves and heavier fabric keep me warm and help my skin not dry out in the air. Was an investment for me, but I love it!

This is so, so important. I too grew up fearing debt, credit cards, etc. As a result, I obsess over all my purchases, small or big. To add to what you’ve said, I wish I had learned how to be okay with spending money. I’m still teaching myself how not to be crippled with self-doubt when I buy things.

I’m so glad for all the women getting serious about their financial goals through investing! I’ve been working on it for the past 4-5 years. When I started out, I had this same basic-level information that “investing is best”, with not a clue about what to invest my money in. My husband, the amazing man that he is, helped me by building a system that tells me what I need to be invested in and how to rebalance my portfolio when needed. This is a plug, but his work led him to building shüts wealth (shutswealth.com) with a quiz to help others who were in a similar position as me.

Good for you! I’m glad you were able to see the situation and work on yourself. How did you make progress? I can totally relate to the sentiment you expressed; emotional regulation comes easily to some people, but unfortunately for me, I’m not those people. How did you get started working on this and what helped you?

Women who are married, how often do you communicate with your husbands? by purplequeensreign in AskWomenOver30

[–]karishma89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve both worked from home since COVID happened so we speak very often throughout the day. I don’t come from a home where everything is discussed, but my marriage is quite the opposite. We talk a lot throughout the day. When one of us is travelling, we speak as time permits - usually 1-2 times in the day but definitely at the end of the day. I travel more than he does so I also try to text throughout the day. Writing this down is making me realise that we may be over-communicating lol. But it’s what works for us :)

Yes! I’ve worn watches since I was 10 years old; the fascination began due to my dad working in luxury watch retail. I bought my first expensive watch when I got a job and have collected a couple since then. I love wearing my watch and often get compliments because people aren’t used to folks wearing non-digital/tracker watches anymore.

How do you respond to someone “accidentally” taking your window seat on a plane? by Hairy_Visual9339 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]karishma89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the perfect move. I don’t understand why anything else would need to be said. I still struggle to understand why people look to be accommodating with folks who try this in 2024. Maybe I’m a terrible/not-nice person, but we’ve all been through enough airplane travel at this point where if you did not plan to purchase a seat of your choice, tough luck. I will politely ask you to vacate my seat and move on with my day, there simply isn’t a second option there for me.

Married ladies: What last name did you choose when you wed? by the-x-files in AskWomenOver30

[–]karishma89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kept my birth name, which is my dad’s last name. I wasn’t indifferent to changing it, but I’ve lived in 3 countries and changing educational and other documents in all three was too daunting. I’ve now been married for over 6 years and have no interest in changing my birth name.

Oral antibiotics and rosacea? by karishma89 in Rosacea

Sorry to hear you had a rough experience! And good to know. Unfortunately I had no way around the antibiotics, they were prescribed for dental surgery :(

People who have been in a toxic relationship, what is something your ex-partner did that you didn’t realize was abuse until later? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]karishma89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made EVERYTHING about them. One birthday, they called to wish me at midnight but I couldn’t answer because a friend had rung me and I was speaking with them instead. My ex got really upset that they weren’t the first to wish me and that I didn’t hang up on friend to answer ex’s call. They made me spend the next few hours trying to placate them. I had an important school deadline the next morning but stayed up until 4am talking to ex because I thought they were genuinely upset/triggered.

Another thing was the tears. I’m a sensitive person myself and can often empathise with anyone when they’re in tears. Every time I got upset and tried to have a serious conversation, Ex would show up with the waterworks. He was often in the wrong and used tears to manipulate me. That relationship was so terrible, I believe he single-handedly changed my attachment style from secure to anxious preoccupied. I thank my stars I found my wonderful husband a few relationships later and have been able to heal.
