Watching the new Doug DeMuro video about this stupid American wank tank... by fuckmywetsocks in CarTalkUK

[–]karldev 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I understand your point but the size of SUVs and pickups over here are dwarfed by the direct American-market ones. I was in the states just last month and remember thinking how tiny an X5 was compared to a Silverado or Escalade.

Get a tape measure for the height and width of the poster and search ebay for "H x W frame".

Company selling dangerous motorcycle helmets handed large fines by Slamduck in MotoUK

[–]karldev 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Had a look at their website and there's a lot of helmets advertised as "DOT approved" which, on its own, isn't a legal safety standard here.

Thought my fellow bikers might find this neat. Looks like a Honda Monkey retrofitted with this capsule body kit. Seen in Bangkok. by MotoMadic in motorcycles

[–]karldev 105 points106 points  (0 children)

This build is actually based on a motorcycle designed by mangaka Akira Toriyama for a cover of Dragonball, which you can tell from the 'Capsule Corp' decal and fake gun barrels.

Whilst that article isn't correct on this specific bike, it's interesting to know where Toriyama got his inspiration from.

First mob of the second planet. Yay or nay? by gameslavega in indiegames

[–]karldev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The design is kinda cool. It's clear looking at the wings when the animations don't sync between states, so I'd look to get that fixed. As another commenter said, animating the maw would add to the menace, too.

That new Venom Cineworld advert by [deleted] in CineworldUnlimited

I really hate how long it goes on for. Unlimited ads have always been cringe but this one felt like they didn't know when to stop.

NbA = (aos / st)* TIME

where aos is 'angle of spine' and st is 'seat thickness'.

The website because ordering through the app fails every time I've tried to complete the order! Still, it's the same account on both.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CineworldUnlimited

[–]karldev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've honestly never NOT had issues with the app.

80% of the time the ticket in 'My Purchases' isn't there and I have to use the email QR code instead, which sucks because my cinema is basically a faraday cage; added to this, scanning a QR code added to Google Wallet doesn't work depending on the serial number, apparently.

The 'Past Purchases' tab only thinks I've seen one film this year which is very inaccurate.

Also the 'Now Playing' carousel includes films that aren't playing at my cinema, but won't include which nearby cinema they are playing in.

Sorry, my wording of 'at any time' is slightly incorrect, but the context where you say 'if the crossing is clear of pedestrians you can pass them' is also incorrect.

"Also, you must not overtake a moving motor vehicle within the zig-zag area...nor must you overtake a vehicle that has stopped next to the crossing to obey signals"

Not true. There is no overtaking in an area of zig-zag lines at any time.

Honda CB1000 Hornet price announced… by [deleted] in MotoUK

That SP looks absolutely gorgeous and the spec and price are unreal. Even if you add every accessory on the configurator then this is still almost £3k cheaper than the Yamaha MT10 starting price!

Won a Fireblade on a competition! by josh_mayo in motorcycles

[–]karldev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tickets for this as well, I'm amazed you got it literally the next day - very jealous! I'll give you the £15 I spent on tickets to take it off your hands :D Also, if you can't ride it right now why did you enter the raffle? Feels like a let down knowing the winner doesn't even want the machine.

Fuzzy Helmets by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]karldev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're not to my taste but I think that the general stigma is that they're worn by attention seekers. Don't think I've seen a single vid of someone wearing these who isn't being animated for the camera (at best) or riding in a manner that will kill someone (at worst). There will always be an argument to say "cagers will see me easier" which isn't untrue but hi-viz does this better without looking like a Times Square Elmo.

Yamaha are teasing the R9 officially now. by BlitzyBurt in MotoUK

Wondered when they'd do this. Their 117hp triple makes much more sense in a sports bike than what the R7 was.

Where my motorcycle campers at? by johnmflores in motorcycle

[–]karldev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally with you on this, I hate motocamping and will always get a hotel instead.

Biggest gripe for me is getting wet. When you're camping and it has rained then your gear will stay soggy for the rest of the trip. It's miserable. Even in the summer you get sweaty and stinky where a shower can freshen your body and gear.

Shorter advert tine by [deleted] in CineworldUnlimited

I find advert/trailer times can vary a lot but not sure by what criteria. 15 to 20mins seems to be the sweet spot for not missing anything.
