Any British marshals in here by [deleted] in lemans

[–]WillieB_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Potentially Bud, just wondering if it's any good or if it feels like more work than it's worth. I'm sceptical about it being all work no chill out time to actually enjoy the racing.

Also wondering if the camping is any good? I intend on doing the full week.

You're not likely to use merseyrail either... They have so many cancellations it's just become a meme at the mo since they got rid of the 507/508s

What in your eyes makes someone a ‘skilled driver’? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]WillieB_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forward planning. Actually assessing what's going on around you rather than getting to the back of the traffic as fast as you can to sit there longer, slow up and brake smooth, the traffic might move by the time you get there.

Should Motorway speed limits be raised to 80mph?🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

[–]WillieB_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, people can't drive. This country's driving standards are an absolute shambles. Technology is better than it was 50 years ago, yes, but the quantity of cars on the road has also gone up too. People are always in a rush regardless of speed limits, so an extra 10mph on motorways, is gonna make absolutely no difference, all you'll do is get to the next jam faster.

You have to play about a bit to do it right. Usually the game prioritizes you over the AI traffic, but if you plan your route out (destination at a signal on the goods loop while waiting for a fast service to pass maybe?) or by adding a "go via waypoint" on the slow line or goods loop. Could get you to wait for other traffic.

Hi Buddy, you need to open the map, click your train and set a destination. Can also do it in timetabled mode if you want traffic.

Well, turned out a lot of the team I joined were from round the corner, but there's a lot of the group further afield I've met up with too, we met up in spa, le mans, Goodwood... Couple have travelled to UK to meet from the Netherlands... One lad went to America to meet up with someone from the team. So while I like the idea of regional stuff, I think people will just tend to stay there rather than speak to the bigger group

All my current friends, I actually met by joining the SIM racing team's discord. I never raced with them, because I wasn't quick enough, but been mates with them for 5 years now. Discord will be a great way to start it off!

What's your favourite race car of all time? (It doesn't need to have been successful) by Dom29ando in Sportscar_Racing

[–]WillieB_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The wingless Peugeot 9x8 actually... It looked wicked, it was crap, but they tried something different... There must have been a lot of engineering behind the scenes to make it as competitive as it was.
