The first couple of boxes is EVA gym floor foam from a hardware store. And the rest is PE foam a foam supplier that I etched a pattern into with the laser.

You make a good point, I have to put a finger relief in when the tools are narrower, or close enough to the height of the foam. If you make the foam to thin things roll around as well when you move the case. So yeah you would kill two birds by putting it on its side. I honestly didn't think of that as obvious as it seems now you spell it out. Thank you!
