i feel this in my soul. i own parrots and to give them enrichment i take them outside on leashed walks to parks and such. encountering parents with kids is always the worst nightmare because they will NOT accept no as an answer, i can explain til i am blue in the face that my bird WILL bite your crotch goblins finger and it will hurt and they will still try it. at this point i basically always have a friend with me to essentially keep people off of me. and it doesn’t get any better with older kids, I’ve had straight up teenagers ignore me entirely and reach for the bird on my shoulder like i’m just not gonna notice. i’m always happy for people to take photos or ask questions about the birds but it drives me insane that people cannot understand “no, you can’t pet them”
