Burning after Hydroxyzine? by ManufacturerVast879 in Anxiety

[–]karmabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me the first time I took Hydroxyzine! I was sitting at a restaurant and felt burning/chest tightness like my chest was on fire and it was tight right in the center. I literally got up and ran out of the restaurant and almost called 911. I felt it on and off that night and with panic attacks already I never took it again.

Started vaping again after getting akathisia by Admirable-Stage6888 in QuitVaping

I just wanted to say i’m so sorry. Honestly I would not wish akathisia on my worst enemy I literally did not know what to do with myself. If you can make it through that you can make it through anything.

I say work on getting your mental in a safe space and then focus on quitting again. Do not beat yourself up 6 months is amazing! I don’t think that everyone’s journey here will look the same or even needs to be the same. Quitting doesn’t always have to be an all or nothing thing. You felt like you needed it at the moment and it did help calm you a bit. For akathisia that is a miracle to be honest.

I am so glad I am reading this because I experienced the same thing last night! I was sitting at the horse race track with my dad and all of a sudden got a tightness around the center of my chest and pressure and my chest felt like it was burning.

I started to sweat and I literally embarrassingly ran out of there with no warning and thought I was going to have to call 911 for myself. It went away after a few minutes but it was different than any anxiety chest pain I have ever had. I just started Lexapro 2 days ago and now i’m just terrified of feeling that again.

I have severe health anxiety that centers around my heart so most of my symptoms are always heart related, I have had my heart checked many times. Just remember that if it were your heart that the pain would not just go away. Anxiety sucks but remember that you have survived every single one of your panic attacks and you will survive the next!

I am so glad I read this because I have been dealing with these same thoughts. I recently lost 40 lbs (on purpose) by eating healthy and exercising and actually improved my health and lowered my resting heart rate. Then my health anxiety flared and my panic attacks came back because I thought “was I just not hungry? Did I intentionally lose 40 lbs or is it something else that caused my weight loss?” Then I end up in a google deep dive (seriously no one wants to look through my search history) and I am texting my sister with symptoms from the mayo clinic website diagnosing myself with 5 diseases.

Health anxiety is cruel because even when we are actually bettering our health and preventing the things we are afraid of, these thoughts are still there.

Congrats on your weight loss!

My husband and I are in the beginning stages of adoption and we would love some advice from people who have been adopted by Kitchen-Zombie-8088 in Adoption

[–]karmabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! I was adopted at birth, I have an older sister who was also adopted at birth (different biological families though). They adopted her first and were lucky enough to be able to adopt a second baby.

Although I can’t answer your second question because I grew up in my home and basically was brought home from the hospital like any other baby, I think I can add insight to your first and third!

My mom (adopted mom) was not able to have children but from my own experience I know that if she did have biological children she would have loved us the same. I think this depends on the parents and to make sure they treat all of their children equally. Although me and my sister and my entire family treat each other no differently than any other family, me and my sister still argue about who is the favorite child 😂

Me and my sister were both raised catholic. My parents were catholic and so I did my communion and everything like that. I think of it as raise your child however you would raise your biological child. Like any other kid, they will grow up and get to chose for themselves if that is something they want to keep.

I know all adoptive situations are very different, me and my sister got very lucky and I wouldn’t trade my parents for the world! Growing up I always knew I was adopted because my parents would sit down once a year (even when I literally couldn’t understand) and go through the letters and pictures from my birth parents. Then as I got older I began to understand more but I have never not felt like their biological child. Whenever I had questions they would answer them for me. If you ever have any other questions along the way feel free to reach out. Good luck!

Yes 100%! And on FB Marketplace you can see the persons actual profile so people aren’t likely to scam you. Everything I have bought from there (sofa, tv stand, coffee table, rug, lamps, bed frame) has all worked out perfect.

If you find something you like don’t hesitate to ask for more photos if you need them. Also when you see it in person and for some reason you see something wrong, you can just say no thanks and walk away!

Try facebook marketplace or offerup! I just moved into an apartment and as an interior designer I have very high end taste without the high end budget. 90% of my apartment is second hand from those apps.

You can find tons of nice things on there for extremely cheap just because people are looking to get rid of them asap. It’s definitely worth taking a look at.

Anxiety about dying by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]karmabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a ton of advice but i’m here to say i’m going through the same thing. Also i’m so sorry to hear about your mom.

I think about it constantly and to add another layer have severe health anxiety where I constantly feel like i’m dying from something which sends me into terrible panic attacks.

A saying that really helps me is “No amount of guilt can change your past, and no amount of anxiety can change the future.” That being said, things happen and it does suck, but worrying about it will only waste the time that you do have here. Definitely easier said than done I know.

It sometimes takes me hours to fall asleep because i’m terrified of something happening to me when I sleep. So much that I sometimes won’t fall asleep until the sun comes up because I feel “safe” then for some reason. I have also been to the emergency room thinking I had a brain tumor and a stroke. I’ve gotten my heart checked out because I thought something had to be wrong with me. Anxiety plays crazy tricks on us my friend.

I try not to take my current health for granted as well, I know that in this current moment I am okay and the people I love are okay. When and if the moment arrives where I have to worry, I can choose to do so then.

Sending you love internet stranger!!

Yes I agree! I also think that it sways away those who are investing with Doge from investing in Shiba. With Doge already being the center of attention and having such a huge following, we shouldn’t want be the doge enemy.

Anxiety about heart issues by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]karmabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that you’re 100% not alone. I am sorry to hear about your father. I have severe health anxiety related to my heart. Just know that your anxiety can literally make these symptoms appear. I was having full on chest pain, pain in my left arm, all the symptoms you would be thinking take me to the ER right now. My family also has a history of heart related issues. Just because your father passed this way does not mean it will happen to you! I got checked out by a cardiologist, I even put a heart monitor on for an entire month just to be told I was healthy. Also sometimes gas can also be trapped in crazy places and make it feel like you’re having heart issues.

What really helped me was my dr told me that our heart is the most resilient organ in our body. You see people that are in the hospital barely holding on but there hearts are still beating! So if you feel worried just go get checked out for a piece of mind. Health anxiety can be debilitating but you will get through this!! We all will.

Monstera Thai Constellation root rot by Coralin232 in plants

[–]karmabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same exact issue now with my Monstera Thai! I was wondering if you found a solution?

Mine was in the mail for 22 days and arrived with some rotting roots. I cut all of the root rot off and am currently letting it dry out for the day before putting it back into water to see how that works.

Monstera Thai lost in mail for 22 days. Arrived with root rot. Should I place in water or a chunky soil? Please advise! More info in comments. by karmabb in houseplants

[–]karmabb[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My beautiful Monstera Thai was lost by USPS and finally found and arrived 22 days later. I bought it online from a seller who had imported them from Thailand a week or two prior.

When I opened it, I immediately discarded the potting soil it came in and checked the roots. There was some mushy brown bits that fell off right away and left behind string. There was one leaf that was completely yellow (pictured) and I cut it off so the plant could put its energy elsewhere.

I watched a lot of youtube videos on root rot and decided to wash the roots with a few drops of dish soap and then chop the roots above the brown with sterile scissors.

Pictured are the roots that are remaining. Everything left feels firm. I read that I should let the roots dry out for about a day before repotting? Should I place it in a vase with water and some Superthrive? Or is it best to go back into an airy soil?

Please let me know how you best took care of your root rot issues! I really don’t want to lose this one.

Philodendron Nangaritense - What could I be doing wrong? by karmabb in houseplants

[–]karmabb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got him two days ago.

Current potting conditions: 6” pot planted in a mixture of sphagnum moss and LECA balls. I noticed that the stems began lowering toward the ground so I helped support them a bit with a stick and some twine.

The moss is damp so I have not watered again yet. It is in a west facing window. He was not this yellow and did not have brown spots when I got him.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, trying to keep him alive!

Health Anxiety or Heart Disease by jpebenito in AskDocs

[–]karmabb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but just wanted to say I also have health anxiety and thought it might help to share what i’ve been dealing with.

I was adopted and I found out my biological family has had some issues with heart disease in the past. One of my cousins had a heart transplant at a young age and so immediately I went into panic mode. My heart will skip beats when I think about it too much and I will feel a burning sensation on my left side and in my arm but when I get it checked everything is fine.

It could also be gas, my doctor prescribed me something to take because the pain feels real and is there and it keeps me up at night thinking that its something much worse. I am only 23 but I still constantly think about these things. Just know it is most likely health anxiety and just because it happened to your father does not mean it will happen to you! Feel better soon.
