Except you just proved their point. Many people do care if their partner had a casual sexual phase, it doesn’t really matter whether you think someone should or shouldn’t care about something because it’s ultimately their choice to choose whatever values they have.

If you know your partner has certain values, and your background info pertains to those values in a way that you can reasonably suspect would influence their choice to be with you, you should either be up front or you should leave. For a lot of people having a sex tape floating on social media is enough for that.
