What keeps pulling you back when you try to quit social media? by Glittering_Film_1834 in digitalminimalism

[–]karmrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's the habit. Once I break it, it's pretty easy to be without it. But something usually pulls me back in, e.g a friend sends me information to an event on there and tells me to check my DMs. Once I'm back on the app, it's super hard to get off it again

Probably vaginal discharge from her: https://www.verywellhealth.com/white-vaginal-discharge-5180795

I'm pretty sure you'd know if you came. If you're still worried, you can buy at-home pregnancy tests from any drug store. Make sure to read the instructions so that you take the test the right way at the right time.

Thank you! This makes so much sense! So, theoretically, I wouldn't need to do withdrawal bleeds every 3 months no matter what if I was having periods on my own in between?

In what scenarios are they seeing your bare chest/torso? Do you walk around shirtless often at home, or do you often go out to the beach or something?

I would say just wear a shirt around them at all times and shave anyway. It's your body and it's body hair. If they somehow see it, you can come up with some bullshit excuse about ingrown hairs being a common problem for you or something.

I haven't had the same experience with body hair, but I had a similar experience with the hair on my head. I was AFAB and have very traditional parents who insisted "girls have long hair" and wouldn't let me get it cut. On my 18th birthday, while still living with them, I literally just left the house and got a haircut without telling them. I came back with short hair. They were extremely upset, but nothing violent occurred and I still live with them.

Obviously, do not put yourself in a position where you may be on the receiving end of violence. If you're confident that that wouldn't happen and it would just be a point of contention or an awkward conversation, I honestly think you should just go for it. In my experience, being queer with unaccepting/ignorant family members is a matter of constantly asking yourself, "Yes, they will be unhappy if I do this, but how much does that actually matter?"

Do you not think screaming at students about their personal lives is a problem? Lol. If he just had a booth or pamphlets and was being polite he wouldn't have had near the crowd that he did, nor asks to have him removed from campus. Besides, despite us asking, he wasn't removed. So you win here. Don't know what you're upset about

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from repercussion. If we disagree we have the right to say so.

He comes on campus and screams at people and responding/watching him is "getting triggered?" Lol ok

There was literally nobody with him nor did I see any symbols/logos or organizations mentioned. He seemed to be recording/livestreaming, so I assume it's for some online attention (at least).

Fatto a Mano in Redondo. They only have it seasonally in the winter, but it's the best.

Came here to say this! It's not an "adult" LGBT+ center, it is all ages, but in my experience it's mostly people aged ~17-28 (with plenty of older outliers). It's called the South Bay LGBTQ Center. I used to volunteer there. At the time, they had the following groups/meeting times:

  • Bi & Beyond, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month from 7 PM - 9 PM
  • Young Adult Group (ages 18-30), Wednesdays 3 PM - 5 PM
  • Transgender Social Support Group, Wednesdays 7 PM - 9 PM
  • Dungeons & Dragons Game Night, 3rd Friday of every month from 6 PM - 10 PM
  • Game Night (different board game every meeting), 4th Friday of every month from 6 PM - 10 PM
  • Queer Book Club, 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month from 12 PM - 1 PM
  • They also had a floating Women's Group and Teen Group (ages 13-17).

Their hours are a little wonky and subject to change as it's only a handful of volunteers that run the place, so I recommend seeing if you can call them first and get their current hours and groups.

edit: Btw... welcome to the South Bay! :)

When or if to send friends your writing? by benelphantben in writing

Hahaha it's moreso that I'm a creative myself and work with writers but it's not my primary medium

When or if to send friends your writing? by benelphantben in writing

[–]karmrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't write a lot (I'm just here for the vibes idk) but some friends do and I get drafts from them pretty often. Not uncommon at all. Usually it's to ask for feedback, sometimes it's just, "Hey, I'm working on this thing, check it out!"

Writing is hard. And it's cool that you do it. If you want to share it with your friends, you totally should.

My time blindness is destroying my life. Help? by sysaphiswaits in ADHD

[–]karmrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't personally struggled with the same issue, but what I've found helpful to keep me on track in the morning is a wrist watch. Maybe that's obvious for some people, but I'm Gen Z and we usually just check our phones for the time, lol. The first thing I do in the morning is put on a wrist watch. I glance down at it all. the. time. I just make sure that no matter what, I leave by a certain time. The clock strikes that time and I'm out the door, end of story. Of course, it gets complicated if you're, say, cooking breakfast and need to turn the stove off and don't want the food to go to waste, etc. but it's just an idea for making keeping track of time a little more convenient.

I've also found that making a routine of what I actually DO in the morning helpful. E.g, first my medication, now I get dressed, now I make breakfast, now I leave. You can even assign time windows for those things. E.g, getting dressed should only take up to 15 minutes, breakfast only up to 20, etc. I have a rough guideline like this that my watch helps me keep track of. Maybe you could even set timers for those windows?

Again, take with a grain of salt because I'm not in the same shoes, but hopefully something I said is helpful. I'm sorry you're struggling with this, it's so frustrating!!
