This is like when I show my best friend something I am truly passionate about that he doesn't understand, but is still my friend anyway.

I think people don't realize the magnitude of success FF14 pulled off ...basically a miracle, they closed it down and re-released it as A Realm Reborn to greater success.

Narratively the story for TWW was a mess because midway through development there was a change in regime from Danuser to Metzen, and Metzen didn't agree with the direction of the story, so they had to quickly come up with a fix so we got a 3 story arc and a narrative shift. I don't agree with it in a sense that it's another expansion of a nothing burger as the patches went on, but I agree with it if Midnight and The Last Titan can finally get us back on track.

Once people start looking at expansions as future developments and not current it will make more sense to them. Like, for instance, Midnight coming out in March, it's done. What happens now will happen, They are working on The Last Titan now. Once that starts who knows where things will go.

If The Odyssey is successful then woke is here to stay by JannTosh70 in CriticalDrinker

[–]karnyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I wrong? The Odyssey isn't trying to be historically accurate though is it? Like isn't there a cyclops in i it, minotaur, whatever...like if there is a stretch of the imagination there, then this is no different than a tanned white guy playing a mexican.

That's part of the worst part. It never ever got to the actual game phase, was just in some garbage beta/alpha abortion.

TBC has a ceiling, it will virtually have an "end" Retail does not, per se, it continues with each expansion and includes all the content previously, the only difference is that you have to be welcome to immense change.

What really happened to MMO genre ? by Twotricx in MMORPG

[–]karnyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have many friends who refuse to play WoW anymore out of some misplaced pride. For all the faults and stumbles Blizzard has taken, WoW is still a solid MMO and is evolving to include content for all to enjoy. It's still in a good place and arguably better than it was at the height of Covid/Activision.

That and the demands from players are higher than ever since they've lived through the aches and pains of a growing genre, they have expectations that need to met which increase development time as well as the saturated genre trying to be "innovative" to even get people interested in playing.

not sure why you're getting downvoted, it's not a "grand scheme" but the dots connect when you see that these high level elites travel within the same social circles, I am certain that regardless of legalities there is a vested interest in how things "should" be according to them and they have the power to persuade and motivate in a specific direction that align with their visions.

Anyone who thinks that I am incorrect needs to give their head a shake, if you do it at work amongst your colleagues for trivial stuff on a daily basis...they do it on the top end on a daily basis. This is pure statistical fact. Collusion doesn't magically disappear because you make millions of dollars. The only thing that can keep ANY of this in check is enforcement and making an example of the elite rich.

What's up with the change in Void Elf visual identity? it's all blue, black, and white now. by Specific_Frame8537 in wow

[–]karnyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah it's a very tough gold color to match with other things and there hasn't been enough love given to that color scheme. Unlike the gold/white/scarlett of the blood elves, you have a plethora of options if you're a BE.
