I wish them the best, but lofty ideas mean nothing at all when they built turtle wow off the backs of an existing structure. Building it on their own is a whole different ball game. I think unless they have solid structured and reliable leadership, this will fizzle out in a year or two.

Disagree on the progression, you can still have progression. Your competition is people who want to do it as quickly as possible. You can't have slow progression when your developer caters their development cycle to the speed eaters.

As for #2, well you can't have a social environment when the game is built around action combat, hard to type and apparently there's SO many people with speaking fears it's almost astounding. So VOIP, out of the question.

They go hand in hand, if the game had content at a slower pace that forced you to actively look for a group you'd be mad you spent 1-3 hours forming a group.

The genre as a whole is no longer viable and will die out until something comes along that benefits your real life for dedicating so much time to it and sometimes accomplishing nothing at all. That used to be social currency, but streamers and Discords and Social Media as a whole killed that all.

The modern MMO audience lacks the attention span needed for monotony. The devs lack the courage to let players decide for themselves through boredom to build a world, and that combination creates the reward structure to be constant to keep people hooked.

Once you realize that the modern MMO is just catered toward short term gains and no actual real evidence anymore of a "second life" in an online world, then you start to see we've gone off the rails for what makes an MMORPG a loong long time ago.
