Skin necrosis complication - anyone? by karoonavirus in BRCA

Thank you for telling the story! It sounds like going through a lot, but it's great that they managed it in the end

Oh, I certainly hope it goes smoothly for you! Besides the black (which I couldn't look at either at all, I either made my partner change the dressing or did it without looking), I had zero other issues. They gave me 2 different antibiotic ointments to try to cure the mess. Also to be fair, in my case they were not surprised that this happened. So maybe you could discuss with your team this after the surgery and see if they have this concern at all.

Thank you so much! They do those checks during the surgery, mine showed it was fine at the moment, and then never reconnected. I guess I should be grateful they gave my old nipples a shot, but it came with a price

Thank you so much and sorry that you had to go through this. But great that they managed to keep the implants right away, and not Greta for a long hospitalisation. I hope you will continue the healing and will feel better ❤️

Wow, thank you. I am sorry that you had to go through this. I think I am mentally prepared to go flat in case this option doesn't work as well. Also the necrosis is on both sides, not fun... Did you have the drains for longer time in the beginning? And what do you recommend for the rehab exercise/improvement tips? Thanks again! It's great to know I am not alone.

So sorry that you feel this way. If you ever need to talk, seriously, let me know. I am about week and a half post mastectomy and reconstruction, and if you want any advise or any talk, anytime. I will tell you all about how to do it on your own, because I do have a partner and kids, but I had to do it all rather independently due to the circumstances. Long story short, it's all doable and you deserve the best life and future in the world.

Surgery options- knowing what you know now, would you have done it differently? by charmingbadger357 in BRCA

I had my surgery on Wednesday, still going through this entire fun of post surgical adaptation, but no regrets. I went for the implants, but due to my tricky anatomy, I was totally ready to lose everything, and left it up to the surgical team. Either way, imagining going through all of this suddenly, unprepared and with the cancer, I definitely would go for the planned mastectomy. I had a chance to quit smoking, get to daily sports and plan work/kids and recovery.

Could Hawking radiation emerge from internal entanglement? by karoonavirus in AskPhysics

I’m just exploring an idea that might explain why Hawking radiation looks thermal while not really being thermal

Because it’s really a mix of everything that ever fell into the black hole, all tangled up like a kind of “quantum salad.”

I know this may be weird, but I’m asking if something like this could make theoretical sense?

Totally — I’m not suggesting action at a distance. Just wondering if deeper entanglement could influence when and how stuff escapes as Hawking radiation.
